The Traxxas trx4m owners thread

Gaz!

Recommended Posts

I believe so, there was a choice when i was looking on Modelsport.

up until this set the rest of the Trx4m fleet are on the Traxxas metal gears (just under £12 for both axles) and they have also been fine. Not used Injora gears, if its anything like the rest of their stuff, I’d guess its not going to be a straight forward job.

i know the Treal stuff is a more expensive than Injora but you can see/feel the difference. Same can be said for Yeah racing stuff, everything is 100% and goes together really well.

All the injora axles I've built with their diffs have been lovely and smooth.

I've not had any treal diff gears for the Trx4m's. If I get any greif from the injora stuff I'll more than likely go to treal.

I've had some of their gears for axial rigs and they're top quality.

Fitted the silicone tyre inserts to the wee Landy today

They are quite firm tho so might need to change to softer 1's later on but will see how these 1's do

She is also getting to be a bit portly these days weighing in at 981gms :insane:

@Stormbringer I bought some of aliexpress for the 1/10s. I think they are 9imod branded. They are way too firm for my trucks.

I've mainly got the injora super soft yellow inserts.

From what I've gathered the super soft do for most Trx4m's if you need a bit more go to the soft green inserts.

I'm rebuilding the ir40 on the injora chassis for the lay down servo.

This chassis fits both Bronco /Defender and k10 /F150 length chassis.

The instructions conflict with the pictures shown on their website.

The instructions show the front chassis rails bolted on way and in the pictures the other way.

I'm going to leave as is for now and see what happens when the axles are connected.

I love the size of the Furitek system.

The top tray easily fits the mini receiver, esc and Bluetooth module.

The purple inserts arrived yesterday and they did feel a bit softer so i changed out the reds for the purple and tyres dont feel quite as firm now so will see how it goes

Also i found the treal shocks didnt have oil in them lol

So took them off took them apart and green slimed the o rings and filled with 20wt shock oil and what a differance in them working now :good:

Got the IR40 back together.

Changed to the lay down servo chassis and diamond axles.

Just need to attach the body and test.

And I'm not sure about the iridium finish on the wheels (not calling them rainbow wheels).

With stainless nuts that kinda look like freewheeling hubs.

Just wow!!

thats a stunner mate!

whats the little wheel nut/hubs like?? Do you think they will be durable enough?? I was forever snapping pins on the 1/10th scale Rc4wd wheel/hub nuts and with these being smaller…..

im still amazed at a previous post, i cant get over the sizes of your electrics (ooh err) makes ALL mine look way to overcrowded!!

next up for me (the Ir40 is done and awaiting its debut test) is one of those Injora brushless combos, also Furitek have done a set up with the esc in the motor, that looks awesome too, plan is to fit brushless to my Defender and Ir40 and put the best of the brushed electrics into the hi-trail trucks.

i can say though that i am really content with my collection now, thats not really happened much in all the years of being in the hobby, apart from a Losi pro moto. :topbanana:

@Gaz! Thanks mate.

The stainless wheel nuts are just stainless nuts that look like freewheeling hubs. The only downside I can think of is if you loose the tool for tightening /undoing. And they may require some thread lock depending on how they wear. On the wider axles I use the stock width hex's. The +4mm axles are wide enough and I don't like putting to much load on the tiny drive pins.

I'm waiting on the injora brushless outrunner, Yodel delivered mine to someone on Monday, no idea where or who, I'm fuming.

I've got a few of the Furitek systems, they're brilliant, can't fault them, well maybe the price compared to the injora offering.

@steephill, i mean no offence mate but…….if the day came and you decide to sell this, i would buy it, 100% guarantee!!

managed to do a bit of play/testing done for a hour yesterday, the course is just one wheelbarrow worth of cement need mixing and its done for the most part, need to find a nice plant pot and plant to completely be done.

i will try to video a lap of the course if at all possible otherwise it will have to be a load of pics.

also it was the Injora Ir40’s maiden run, wow, this will go just about anywhere, the shocks are a little too short (Traxxas shafts in Treal bodies) and the articulation is hampered by the cheap Chinese links, its one the to do list along with a shock swap, also seriously thinking about narrower hexes, i have 10mm at the moment but there’s (what i think) a lot more pressure on those steering knuckle bearings.

the yeah racing motor was ok, never got anything like hot but felt a little underwhelming, might try something else at some point, or even run brushless.

the Injora esc was great, 100% smoother than the hobbywing 1625 probably ok in a 16th buggy perhaps where the throttle curve isnt as important. I did have a moment though, when the hobbywing hits low volts its cuts power so you can drive it back to yourself, the Injora however just shuts power straight off, first thought was s… ive broken it. Saw the esc light flashing red, phew!! Fantastic esc though, deffo will eventually be running this in most of the trx4m fleet.

other than that, was over the moon!

bit of a group shot,
