The Traxxas trx4m owners thread

Gaz!

Recommended Posts

Interesting to see the comments saying the stock shocks are good on the TRX4M Bronco, I've found the complete opposite and have just ordered some Injora shocks to replace the stock ones. The stock shocks have so little rebound and feel so sticky that you lose clearance and get easily stuck, making the body wonky which seems to be a fairly common issue looking online.

I've rebuilt them and tried with various mixes of air/oil and nothing helps. Hoping the new shocks help, for the sake of £22 it's worth a shot - especially as the stiffer springs for the stock shocks are over £7 a set!

The Bronco on my crawler course.

Nearly made it up, really clumsy attempt at saving it. Not my best driving...

The body is holding up to the regular beatings it gets. Definitely got the offroader look.

@steephill, that Ir40 looks better now in my opinion mate. :good:

Mines in the post hopefully today or tomorrow, just in time for the rain to start again.

course is looking good now too mate, :good: you have been spoilt with the tarantula, that thing is like a barnacle!! It did well though considering.

ooh, just remembered, my lad found out those bits that come with the gearbox now.

What options for a stand alone esc is there other than the Injora one

The furitek esc can be used brushed, change the settings in the app.

Hobbywing do the mini esc, rubbish in my opinion.

You could try decasing a 1080 (if that's a word, you know what I mean).

I've got a few various mini esc's from aliexpress, one is rated to 3s. They aren't really crawler specific so they are great but as good if not a bit better than the mini hobbywing esc.

I'm sure there's another option but can't think of it at the moment.

The stock traxxas esc isn't bad, there's three modes you can switch between.

What don't you like about the injora esc?

I have two and think they are a worthy upgrade. Very smooth low control.

I have to agree,

the only reason i keep using the Hobbywing 1625 is the size and its better than the £4.99 esc’s on eBay, well just…..

look into some of the 10th scale crawler esc’s some are quite small, i had a spare Tekin fxr that’s tiny even with the resistor, not cheap though…… Teking do/did a micro esc, there was a guy on here had them in his Scx24’s and rated them very highly.

lrp do a tiny esc too but its nimh only so would need a lipo alarm fitting as well. :good:

Yeah its a chance to take, the hobbywing 1625 is small, waterproof and relatively good value for what it is but it suffers the same as the 1060 esc with the throttle profile.

as said though, you could squeeze in a 1080 but i would recommend the Injora double decker battery tray but the downside is you would be able to fit a interior.

all very much swings and roundabouts though, i know the next micro esc i am going for will be the Injora offering as i already have 3 1625’s and fancy a bit of a change, i do like the look of the Injora esc, it has scope to be a tidier fit into a trx4m for sure. :good:

Having been out with the 4m f-150 again today i just cant live with the TQ radio, so ordered the Injora esc and will use a hotRC DS4a right handed radio set with it, so the traxxas esc and TQ radio will go up for sale, once i have tried the new esc and decided if its as good as people say

Started to build the kangaroo chassis back together.I pulled the jeep wrangler to bits as a donor.

I've got some of the Injora 32% underdrive gears to try with a furitek motor and esc. The motor is tiny so great for lowering the cog.

The wheel base is stock bronco / defender. I've ordered high trail length high clearance links to stretch it out.

58mm tyres in the pictures. I'm gonna stick some steelies with brass rings and 64mm hyrax looking injora tyres. My tarantula has them and I think they're the best size for crawling.

Hopefully get it on the crawler course later and see how it goes.
