.AJ.
Will do, but I’ve just looked at the forecast and the weather is meant to be rubbish this weekend, I’m not running it in the wet first bash 😂

Popular Post .AJ.
I wasn’t happy with the Power HD servo, it’s too slow for my liking and seems underpowered, so picked up one of these……
Kpowell911
Ive became such a servo snob regarding speed. I have to be below 0.10. My UDR has a brand new £70 Savox in it thats perfectly fine, but feels too slow so Im looking at upgrading, even with the comedy servo saver!

Popular Post .AJ.
Forgot to say, I’ve fitted the servo along with a Vitavon servo saver and a EXB alloy servo saver axle thingy The speed of this one is in another league compared to the Power HD, it’s like having a super quick 35kg servo in a 1/8th Truggy 😂
Popular Post .AJ.
First bash! Wow what can I say! It drives just like a 1/8 truggy, dare I say it handled better than my 5ive B, very close tbh.. but it definitely jumps much better, I even manage a few back flips off the worn out jumps 👍 Im not convinced with the gearing I’ve been recommended, everything is hot, esc 60c, motor 75c, batteries 50c, it’s plenty fast enough, wheelies on demand even with the punch on the esc set to low, so I think I’ll gear down a touch and get a 28t pinion Run time was around 20-25mins, I was expecting a bit more, at cutoff the lipos were at 3.2v which is a bit low for liking, so I’ll up on the esc as well Ive given the truck a quick look over and no damage apart from the esc fan has lost a few fins 😂

.AJ.
It would have been the landings, it’s pretty much spotless inside, I’ve seen a 3D printed top cover that can mount 2 x 40mm fans to im going to try 👍
.AJ.
The stock fan is a weird 45mm size that no one else uses or makes,
Stormbringer
Looks like your enjoying it and having good fun Seems bit strange the fans shedding blades tho Edited June 26, 2022 by Stormbringer
Kpowell911
Hmmm, do you think the fans breaking a few fins has caused it to run hotter? Looks good though, large scales are just so much more fun provided you have the lipo’s and the space
.AJ.
Na i checked the temperatures after the first 10 mins and the fan was still intact then, from what I’ve seen it’s pretty common for the max5 to wreck it’s fan
.AJ.
I’ve picked up a smaller pinion and some shrink tube to add a bit more protection to the lipos But having thought about the gearing ive decided to put the 47t spur back on and keep the 30t pinion, I was running similar gearing on my 5ive B and I never thought to myself it was slow, also I can turn the punch up higher and it should help increase the run time. Tbh I thought the gearing recommend to me was miles off going by my previous experience of largescale brushless and I would rather have torque than a pointlessly high top speed anyway 👍
BashingBrian
Personally I think the 47T is more suited to the O8s, I spoke with Stewart at LogicRC one day and he said Arrma gave two options on spurs because of the two different styles of 8s trucks. With that Leopard motor you've got, it should easily do 30/39T without getting too hot.. ( it is the 113mm can ?? ) Here's my O8s setup, I have a shorter motor than you though (TpPower 56x92mm) Real world speed with that gearing on short grass was 51mph recorded on SkyRc gps, I'm not running any fans on the motor either and the temps were all good. I am still experimenting with gearing myself and was thinking of trying the 39T spur 🤣
BashingBrian
Can't remember where I got this chart from but it's quite helpful.. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/172JeLv4pGQYZ2fq2hMav_jhvPy5RMOYb2kBpuxgyUeY/edit#gid=
.AJ.
30/39 sounds good, but 75c motor temps without being run very hard isnt so great 😂
.AJ.
Regarding the broken fan, I posted about it on Arrma Forum and got a great tip from one of the members on there… There is a fix for this! Sadly the blades can contact the cover on landings and tear blades off.. I have seen people put a screw right through the top of the cover to limit upward blade travel. In my case I just glued a small spacer to the top of my replacement fan.
.AJ.
Ohh and a replacement fan, ive decided to stick with the stock fan set up for now, I’ll revisit twin fans on the esc at a later date 👍
.AJ.
I’m fitting the new fan this morning and found my own solution, ive found a bearing that’s fits perfect on the nub on the case, 8x5x2.5 👍
Kpowell911
Out of curiosity, why the Leopard ESC over the Max 5? Are they identical?
.AJ.
Yeah it’s the same esc, just rebranded. It worked out £70 cheaper to buy it as the Leopard combo than to buy the motor and a Max5 separately
