Table top crawler course

Recommended Posts

I tore up the old deck from the garden and built a table out of it. I'm planning on making a table top course for my scx24. Table is about 3m x 1.4m so fairly big. This will live outside so obstacles will mostly be made of any wood that I have lying round.

Anyone else built a table top course? I'm looking for inspiration from obstacles.

I built a course for my Orlandoo jeep, used expanding foam, polystyrene and wood. Painted with spray paint and chucked some sand over while it was still wet.

Cant find any pics but here's a quick video pre painting

Looks awesome.

I'm just starting building some indoor bits with my little lad for our SCX24.

So far cardboard and a glue gun have been my best friend. Am going to start with some expanding foam later to give it more of a 'rocky' appearance.

Am thinking paint wise spray seems really expensive, so I'm thinking a cheapish tin of emulsion in probably a rocky grey colour and mix in some sand for grip. Followed by some lighter and maybe brown shades of spray for accents, then a good tip I've seen seems to be a couple of thin coats of matt car lacquer for a strong finish.

We'll see how it all goes... 🤷🏻‍♂️
