Popular Post Shergar
So masked painted, swore, cocked up, finished 🤬😂 All the black was sprayed internally and was a pain to mask up, hence the dark blue (PS16 @Subaru blue) to hide the less than perfect black masking. Very happy withe Vanquish front bumper, however another front bumper mount is in the post for fitting to the rear of the chassis to pull the Vanquish bumper inwards and upwards. As always I messed the tints up and for some reason the flat clear on the arches reacted? However as my wife pointed out “Its going to be scratched to high heaven by this time next week” 😂 There is one last trick… 2021 Broncos come “clip-less” so I thought I’d have a go. Fronts a bit reluctant to go in easy due to the location of the bolts, rear snaps in lovely. You need the 2021 Bronco arches and clips, (under £30 all in) and some bolts. I used shock spacers as spacers. I might need to add washers if the body pulls through, but its an experiment! Popular Post Shergar
I’ve decided this is a basher not a crawler- it loves donuts more than I do 🤣 I might try drift wheels next 😉 2

Popular Post Shergar
So been out with my eldest today (and she drove too, though it cost me cooked breakfast!) and lets saying despite not knowing who the hell Kevin Talbot is, she has been channeling him 🤣 Imagine the scene… down the woods were the local bikers have made a pump track - one innocent TRX4 and a mashed throttle and hope for the best….. Traxxas tough indeed! I was videoing so these are the stills 🎥 Where exactly are you going? Luckily there wasn’t a THUD…. Instead there was a splash 😳 The “It was like that when I got here” face 🤬😂 Thats before she turned everything upto 11….. back home now and no damage - more luck than judgement! Though I’ve just broke the hosepipe and GT85 out and it appears all good for now. The shell has a few more speed scrapes alongs its… well bloody everywhere actually! For what this cost its remarkable value for money, all the crawler/basher/trailer you need.

Lone-wolf
Now then, i see this has portal axles, are they included on the stock £329 sport kit?
Stormbringer
No that 1 appears to not have portals But this does https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/traxxas-trx-4-premium-unassembled-chassis-kit-425424 And the rtr defender does have portals, not sure about the bronco

Yep 👍 This is the cheap truck kit, I just added 2021 Bronco arches/clips, Bowhouse battery tray, swapped the bumpers and added my own electronics.
Stormbringer
Ahh it doesnt say it in the description https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/traxxas-trx-4-sport-assembly-kit-439064 Oh well my bad 👎 Edited June 30, 2022 by Stormbringer
BigGinge
I don’t think you can buy a TRX4 without the portals, no matter what you go for. Edited June 30, 2022 by BigGinge
JonnyUK
Looks good and a nice job of building and modifying it. One thing I don't get, and never will, is why buy a crawler to go bashing and jumping with. I see it as reverse engineering. All that effort put into designing one of, if not the best, crawler out there...was wasted. Each to their own though I guess.
Popular Post Shergar
I’m 4/5th’s crawling trailing and when the horns come out 1/5th’s bashing. It’s the big kid in me! It’s probably getting the same wear and tear either way. It makes such a whine in low gear* that you put it in top, and you can’t help it. Heaven knows why these trucks end up brushless! Dodgy business ethics aside, I see why the Traxxas faithful are evangelical about there RC’s now. (*I stuck a two speed gearbox from Jenny’s in it, I wouldn’t bother in future).

Popular Post Shergar
I still love this, bar the useless low gear it doesn’t need. The bodyshell mounts seem to work, though the front arches could possibly do with opening up, still I like the occasional rubbing noise! Stock tyres and the Injora beadlocks are doing great. The perfect looking Vanquish bumper costs very little though it occasionally stops you pushing upwards on an obstacle if your a dead square head on. I might yet cut 10mm off the chassis rails at the rear to pull the matching rear bumper in. I could flip the mount (which is a front bumper mount), but I’m thinking too much height could cause it to flip backwards? Not felt the need to chuck any extra brass on - but then there is very little weight on the body shell compared to most TRX4. It looks scale enough to me 👍 What might I change? Next time I’d keep the single speed (whose ratio is between the 2 speeds) and keep/add the 45 spur and 9 tooth pinion and go higher than the 550/21T it currently has. Happy on 2S too, I would probally destroy it on 3S, I have tried and I don’t stick the 3S pack in anymore 😇🤣
Stormbringer
I occaisionally run 3s in my TRX6 and it does give it a bit more oomph but i find the 3s 5200 gives me longer run time than a 2s 6200 Maybe because im not using as much throttle when walking with it 🤔
Popular Post Shergar
So the day started off carefully…. And ended up messy 🤣 I got stuck plenty - damm you wet surfaces 🤬😂 I’ve been spoiled all summer with dry dusty grip everywhere! Poor things since been rinsed and soaked in GT85, but so far thats it maintenance wise no graunching or breakages yet, touch wood. I have a new motor in the post to make the most of the low gear and I think I will swap the bearings out when it arrives too as a cheap precaution.

Shergar
Cheers gents, I’m tempted to build a Sunday best one for trailing with a hardbody and use this one as intended! Just ordered some new bearings which obviously means the existing ones will all be fine….!
