Where do you run your high speed rc?

So I have a limitless that’s doing 113mph consistently and I’m looking to get it faster but I’m having trouble finding somewhere smooth enough at that speed, so where does everyone run that’s nice and flat and not too busy?

You just have to do your homework, look for large industrial estates or see if you can get access to a plane runway (not likely), just see what is within a fair distance

I tend to test my speed runners on a local industrial estate but honestly they're too quick for that road.

I've been running my speed run cars at ROSSA UK speed championship events now for a few years as do a lot of others here in the UK that I know.
Have you heard of ROSSA?  (Radio Operated Scale Speed Association)

The next scheduled event this year is for the 14th and 15th of August so there is still time to arrange to come to that if you'd like. Info on the Facebook group announcements page. 

 

The events are a great place to run high speed RC's to their full potential and the events are held at Snowdonia Aerospace Centre, Llanbedr, North Wales. Usually the events are held over 2-3 days and people take turns to run their RC's through officially sanctioned speed traps for accurate and official speeds. 
It's a lot of fun and everyone just wants the UK speed runners to be the best in the world so we all try to help each other no matter whether you're just starting out or have been at it for years.

Thanks and yes always trying to beat my own PB's.  

Hoping at the next event to get it into the 130's.

Not finding a suitable spot to run was a major factor why i pulled out of speed runs, though i still have a few more runs to do with my Vantage

It is old, the new dates are published yearly, join the facebook group linked by Mr G, (sorry theres no other way really to keep informed)

I bought a Felony for getting into the speed runs scene, spent quite a bit upgrading parts etc, then realised there are no places suitable within 80 miles of my house. So sold it.

This is my concern. Im not an Arrma fan at all, but Id love to do an Infraction build..... Then I realised, in the real world I sometimes struggle to get top speed out of my brushed Tamiya on roads......

This is the very reason pretty much all my rc are off road type, so much easier to find a large grass area and even if you do find a car park it has them rc killing kerbs everywhere or you run over a pebble and you are sliding down the car park on your roof

This is why i quit speed runs, i loved being part of it and at one point i was sure i had the fastest FTX Vantage (62 MPH) but lack of suitable roads to run on called time for me

I think speed runners are better if you live in the US.  Wider roads and a hell of a lot more empty places.

Interestingly I have entered a raffal competition to try win a speed runner from Raz Shifren, God knows what I would do with it should I win more than likely sell it on
