walkbythesea
Quick test over the stumps with added pervy breathing as I was trying to concentrate on holding my phone and filming as well as driving…. 😂🤣
Redback
How were your high clearance links at the end of SST? Personally i thought it did well with the small tires, that much of a raise will increase its roll chance considerably, you might want to look at putting some lead weights or something on the axles, and droop the suspension a bit to compensate for the extra growth its had? It’s actually doing OK on the bigger wheels with the extra weight in them - 180g per wheel. Droop just makes the body rub everywhere! I am getting some arch rub with the big wheels that I didn’t get before. I may weight the smaller wheels and see how she does on them. She will now climb a 5.25 inch vertical step head on! Can you please send the footage you said you got? I’d love to see it Edited September 18, 2021 by walkbythesea
Popular Post walkbythesea
So long story short the new job I got in September has been crazy busy and RC has had to have been put on a bit of a back burner - loads of ideas but no time to follow through on them, until I went and got covid…. …. so whilst I’m still infectious and self isolating for a few more days I was feeling well enough today to get Krystal out on the dining room table for a rethink. The girl needed to lose some weight as she’s so top heavy which pulls her over in the rocks, and the huge gap between the sliders and side planks was only ever meant to be temporary, it meant there was nothing for it - 15 rivets got Dremel’ed off and out came the door, immediately removing over 800g! So I’m now stuck until I can get out and get some metal to make new body mounts to pick up the posts on the chassis, but I’m really pleased with both the weight saving and subsequent lowering of CG and also the improvement in the overall look. Without the floor I’ll also have access in through the roof to change batteries etc without having to take her all to bits, which will be much easier. To those who have asked, Krystal has not been sold she’s just been in hibernation and will be back out there later in the year 🤘😁

Popular Post walkbythesea
So I now have a two piece split aluminium floor thanks to a local fabrication place - it raises the internal floor to permit the body drop down to the sliders, but still uses the factory body posts so I can actually do a 1 inch body lift whenever I simply want more clearance or to run the bigger wheels. I can also now switch batteries through the roof without having to take her all to bits.

walkbythesea
Next will be some heavy shock oil to control the body roll, but I want to drive her first as is just to see how much she’s changed since SST
PraetoR
Really coming together! Looking like she's going to have some decent capability, too.
Popular Post walkbythesea
So no one actually took video of me driving her in more technical stuff, but all my mates had a go slinging her around over roots and slamming on the power and steering trying to get her to roll - all the mods are working, she’s SO stable now 👍😁
Stormbringer
Looks a lot more stable now tho when your mates had a shot did they manage to topple her ?

walkbythesea
I've now taken delivery of some super heavy duty 6mm stainless links to add more low down weight and much needed strength, update to follow once they're fitted
