Popular Post Jumper
Got a big box today. Thought i'd start off the owners thread to see what issues and good points members of the forum come up with. I'll go through some of my first thoughts in this OP. I've seen almost all the reviews. I think the truck will be the best solid axle truck made to date compared to the main competition, the Axle SMT10 and the Kyosho Mad Crusher. I have gone with the Son Ova Digger from Modelsport which they posted out to me as currently the click and collect service is not open. The box is massive, as with any big RTR. This morning i unboxed the truck just before work and had a quick look, its pretty big and heavy compared to an SMT10, probably closer to a Mad Crusher in size. Standard RTR ESC is the Spektrum 130A, basically a Max10 SCT with a fancy heatsink from what i can tell. Motor is nothing too special either, sensorless 3660 can 3150KV. Interesting that it isnt 3200KV like the motor found in the Arrma 3S line, i wonder what the difference is. I have run a Hobbywing 3652SL 3300KV in my SMT10, so i think even with the extra weight, the 3660 will give a similar power feeling. Servo looks pretty cheap, but has decent specs. Plastic top and bottom with aluminium centre. I can see me changing this out as i had a Blue Bird brushless servo in the SMT10 with 10A castle BEC and that was amazing. Not expecting it to be as good as that. Also nice to see it comes with a decent servo saver. Hopefully they make a 24/25T version for normal servos The steering links look like plastic, but there is a metal rod in them which seems to be springy steel, so it should hold up well to impacts. Horizon stickers in the usual application. You can see the colours are completely different. Hopefully they'll fix this on later batches. I dont really care as the body is going to get destroyed with my driving anyway also once its dirty or the stickers peel off from the bad application, you wont see it. If you really care about the body being perfect the roller will be a good option, then you can do all this yourself. The front of the body where the flames are printed/painted look miles better than the sticks up close. The grill and headlights are also fitted straight and properly. Everywhere the links, steering, shocks or sway bars are mounted to the chassis or axles are double shear. This is a massive improvement over previous TVP conversions for SMT10 trucks, which have big issues bending screws for me. The links are THICCCCCCC 9mm thick, the rod ends are also miles bigger than any previous trucks as well, which again, was a main weak point on SMT10 based trucks. The drive shafts are plastic, They seem to be a scaled down verion of the shafts used on the super rock rey and super baja rey. On 2 and 3S maybe even 4S I dont think MIP upgrades will be required. I'm sure someone will shoehorn a 4092 or a 1717 in here and run 6S and break them, but damn they are beef. The sway bars are actually one of the nicest pieces on the truck. clearly machined aluminium. The chassis plates are 3mm thick stamped aluminum, i can see people bending the from of the chassis if they try really hard. The good thing is being flat and 3 peice per side, it should be easy to make or buy machined 7075 T6 aluminium or even carbon fiber chassis plates. I think 3mm carbon would look really nice. Another interesting note on the standard chassis are these holes which seem perfectly positioned for a trailing arm setup with shocks mount on them like the standard SMT10. personally i think this would ruin the scale MT look, but i guess they added this option for the racers. Last thing to mention in my overview is with th e3 degree of rear toe in i keep thinking the rear axle looks broken XD even the hex is at a strange offset. I have not torn into the truck or checked out the screws yet, however i have already found 1 of the lower link mount is completely lose and moves around at the axle end. Remember RTR standards for ready to rebuild properly So in future posts I will being properly checking it over and checking out the gearbox and diff setup. If anyone wants to know or see anything specific that i missed out let me know! I look forward to seeing what the thought are of fellow LMT owners are as well 5
mydoddy69
Any ideas what your gonna do to solve the axles breaking fella ? I really like these but those axles breaking has put me right off if I’m honest, looking forward to see you ripping this up other than the axle issue they look amazingly good 👍

They seem to be able to take a massive amount of abuse before breaking. I think the cold weather in most cases is making the plastic brittle. My amazing solution is not to send it when its freezing cold I do manage to break everything though, so i'll see how long they last as standard.
Popular Post Jumper
Got the Grave Digger version today Here is a comparison of the sticker one the side. The stickers on the Grave Digger seem more black and less brown than the Son Ova Digger You can also see the flames on the roof and bonnet of the Grave Digger are painted, whereas the Son Ova Digger bonnet is painted, but the roof is a stock, which doesn't really match the colour at the front. The Grave Diggers bonnet stripe isnt in the middle which is annoying as well. The Grave Digger body is wider at the front and so I think the front tyres are more likely to rub on the body. I guess they both have good and bad points. The colour of the wheels/plastic cage and flames all seem to match better on the Son Ova Digger, the Grave Digger is clearly 3 different shades of green I have also just tried the SMT10 Max D body on the LMT chassis. If anyone gets a roller this body will look amazing on it. It looked a little over sized on the SMT10 Underneath they are both same, so there isn't really any point in going over the Grave Digger features and chassis. I am going to do a tear down and overcheck of both and report back on any lose screws or lack of thread lock. On further inspection last night i found the lower front right link mount was lose on the Son Ova Digger. I'm also going to test both motors on my KV tester to see how consistent the motors are as i've never had 2 of the same motor in the same condition before. I am only planning on keeping one. I got both because I couldn't decide which to get and needed to see them in person and you can go and see them in the shop unfortunately. 5

turok007
The real grave digger uses different greens so i would say the lmt looks good.

.AJ.
I’ve just ordered a roller from the US! I’ll probably stick a Castle MMX 2650 combo in it 👌
