Looks brand new in the video but take it from me it’s not that shiny in real life it has a canny few battle scars 😁 1

wombat
Hi @ Jack Reacher, do you rate the coyote above the texan, asking as am thinking about another crawler, but am working to a budget, fancied the coyote on offer from Models port, but wondered about trying to stretch the budget to a texan Your advice would be appreciated 😊

Popular Post Lone-wolf
Having listed the Texan for sale at a very fair price and no takers, i had to decide if i drop price and really lose a big chunk trying to sell, or stick with it, make a few changes, try to get rid of any thing that niggles me stage by stage, so keeping it. Step one was to address the droopy front suspension, i had already loaded 1000csl oil but still kinda saggy on front end, so front shocks out, change springs for some very slightly firmer springs, job done, back shocks/springs seem pretty good so for now leaving them as stock, the new front springs are the black ones. I have ordered a set of deep dish metal beadlocks, these will widen the track a bit, aiding stability, waiting game from China for these and considering getting a set of Duratrax deep woods, but these are just Fastrax wit lettering on side walls with the new front springs and a heavy battery the shocks just start to compress under the load where before they would drop about 6mm just with battery weight
Popular Post Lone-wolf
Right guys, the Texan now has deep dish wheels on, still with stock tyres as they work well enough. I reverted the shock springs back to stock but moved the top mount down a notch this has sorted front suspension just how i want it 😎 After plenty of chat with the ever helpful @tomr we have decided my Tex really needs the longer chassis mod, along with the de cantilever rear shock mod, so watch this space as work should start in a few days to a week once parts start to arrive, again huge thanks to tomr. Also plans to get a new clear cab shell when they come back in stock and do my own thing with the paint work, might even take the silly indicators of or hard wire them as running lights Edited July 24, 2022 by Jack Reacher
Stormbringer
I think it looks better with the black deep dish wheels mate and so long as theres no rubbing should help stability
Popular Post Lone-wolf
As promised i have done the chassis and shock mod to my Texan, still needs fine tuning and need to order a cvd prop shaft for the rear so for now its front wheel drive the rear ride height is out of kilter so need to play about with that, i made up a brass chassis brace but already re thinking that, for a tidier look using M3 threaded stud and brass tube (got the bits) A Huge and i really do mean huge thanks to @tomr for the push to do this and lots of other help mate your a true star

Lone-wolf
@tomr it ended up at 310mm wheelbase so darn close to the magic 313, will work on it again tomrrow and sort ride height out and maybe redo chassis brace

Popular Post Lone-wolf
Okay we are about done for now, managed to dremel an old drive shaft to fit the rear so its now 4WD, re did the shock mounts and managed to drop the back end down about 7mm, so its about as good as it gets on ride height, also took of the chrome fake exhaust, less to break on the trails 😄 future plans............... still want to repaint the cab in flat black for a "moody look" with bits of black rubbed to let little bits of grey to peek through, a kinda weathered look, tempted to do a home made interior with a cowboy driver figure, also i am thinking of re doing the lighting, putting warm white LED in the main lights and taking the ruddy turn signal lights out and making them into spot lights, or amber running lights the lights run of the RX and go out on full throttle so thinking a re wire to hook them up to balance plug on lipo
