Could one of you lovely chaps with a DR8 measure the tyre diameter and width for me. I'm unable to find the information online anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

I will do it when I get home in a bit

Hey guys,

New DR8 owner from Australia here. Bought myself one for Christmas.

I've given it an absolute beating on dirt, gravel, grass, asphalt and sand... it all came to an end today after I lost the hex nut off the front wheel and no hobby shops are open until Wednesday.

Prior to this point I managed to break the suspension mount (need to order one from the UK in aluminium) and tore the end of the shock off - I fixed both of these issues with cable ties yesterday and kept it going without an issue but the wheel nut has done me in 😂

The red cable ties held it in place but every so often it would pop out. This is what I was working with....

I'll keep you updated once I get the parts and see what I can break next.

Made it to a local hobby shop today to see what I could source to get myself going again.

I found some Mugen Seiki self-lock wheel nuts (4 pack is E0219) which are compatible with the DR8 hub, they are also thicker and the locking pattern is deeper for a harsher lock against the rim. I much prefer these over the stock ones that come with the car.

I was also able to retro fit the Mugen Seiki shock end (4 pack is E0545) to the existing shock. I used the existing end cap as the Mugen Seiki version has a smaller lip diameter which doesn't cover the spring completely.

I had to keep the cable ties supporting the rest of the rear end as the shop that sells FTX parts isn't open until tomorrow. I had a good run today but did new round of damage to the RH front of the vehicle damaging the front clip mounts and bending the CVD shaft. I also broke the top of the front clip bolt off.

Here's the bits and pieces + a steering connecting plate (not shown but it's well bent) that I need to pick up tomorrow if they've got them in stock otherwise I'll see what other brands I can retrofit to get this going.

I'll let you all know how I go 😅

Will probably have completely rebuilt this entire car before the end of the year...

Fitting a heatsink with twin fans but I will leave the fans off until the weather warms up

Very smart indeed Martin.

Quick question:  Does the electro magnetic force from the motor ever affect the fans at all when so close together.

So I ended up getting everything I needed including an aluminium rear suspension clip/mount.

Took it out for another run and was attempting to jump the width of a small soccer field which is raised from the oval next to it... after a number of attempts I had a bad landing on the front right wheel. Pulled it away from the ball joints, damaged the wheel nut and hub adapter (ruined the thread) and broke the servo.

Another trip and another $100 AUD and I replaced the servo with a 20kg model which seems more responsive and replaced the hub.

I'm yet to take it out again but I'll keep driving it to its full potential 😂

It hasn't as far as I know on any of my other cars that have fans.

After some speed runs on the beach I heard a strange noise and I seemed to be FWD only, so upon checking it looks like the centre diff has failed. The drive shaft turns but the motor doesn't or doesn't awlays turn.

Can I just lock it up with ear plugs?

I'll open it up later and take a look.

Spent the rest of the day ripping a pair of tracers with my boy, they are so much fun.

Also picked up a pair of WL A979B's and a WL 124018 to add to the fleet after some TLC, should be fun projects although I've not dealt with BG before, so will have to see how that goes.

Thanks all.

Mark.

Will update tomorrow.
