First time boating prep

Mr Mike

Recommended Posts

I've purchased a Fei Lun FT011 speedboat.

What, if anything do i do before taking to the water? I read a couple of bits about before and after runs.

Should i seal the boat more than factory spec? Do i need any products....sprays, oils etc.

Thanks

I'm certainly no expert, but all I did was check end points and make sure nothing was binding, then chucked it in the water.

It was recommended I use a marine grease on the prop shaft, but so far it's still greasy.

If you're using a dog bone/cvd style coupler, you most likely won't need that, it's only if it's going into a sleeve.

Again, that's just the information I've gathered, so don't take it as the be all and end all :)

Hope you enjoy boating, I've found it to be a nice escape and change from the cars.

Thanks for the info. I have just received the boat and it's certainly put together well. Better than i thought actually.

The only thing maintenance wise it mentions is a little grease on the prop from time to time.

Yep, that's all I was told and mine has actually run well.

One thing I would mention is when using it on hot days, keep an eye on the LiPo temps.

Mine were pretty high, but on a colder day they were only just warm.

No airflow to them makes them warm, mixed with the fact boats are hard on LiPos anyway because you're almost constantly throttling.
