Vanrad
See I was really looking to buy the wr8 flux version but after seeing what you guys are going through im starting to reconsider
coldcuppatea
Vanrad - I can add a cracked wheel to the list as well now. However, bar the weak upper arms (which you might have seen that I've replaced with customised ones for not much over a tenner), its a pretty tough little think. I can't speak for the others but I have given my WR8 some serious abuse! Joe - have you used both versions enough to deliver a verdict on which is best? Reckon that having both is worthwhile? Have you even used the 3.0 since getting the flux.
RC Freaks
See I was really looking to buy the wr8 flux version but after seeing what you guys are going through im starting to reconsider My advice? Don't buy any RC car ever. They all break, eventually. This is bar far the cheapest car I've ever owned to repair how ever.
RC Freaks
Assuming the lens is fairly wide, I guess you're both getting quite close to the camera on some of those shots. It's not only making me want to buy a Go Pro if that's what they can do, but also a Flux version of the WR8. The lens is quite wide yes but there are multiple settings to change the camera view. I shot this video all on "narrow" view which give you a less wide field of view, but more clarity over distance. Compare that to the "wide" view setting and you can see about 160* wide which is just AWESOME. Problem being the cars have to be extremely close to the camera to get the same effect as narrow, albeit you'll see a much wider view the car will seem further away at distance. Couldn't recommend the GoPro enough. The flux is also a great little car!
JoeGT
Lol the wr8 is a tough little car. And parts are cheap. Camber arms, I broke one a while back having a collision with RC freaks and I ordered eight pairs from the states. Haven't broken one since. What I've learnt. Bearings. Both diff and wheel bearings. Replace them with rubber sealed ones. Standard hpi are metal shielded and the sand, grit and water absolutely destroys them. Use rubber shielded traxxas ones. Shock socks Fit some if your going off road. After running many times down the beach and on our sandy off road track my shocks eventually lost all the oil in them. Guessing the dirt destroyed the rubber seals. Apart from that mine has run sweet. And I've run quiet a few packs through it. And it's been everywhere. Coldcuppatea I have run the nitro a couple of times since getting the flux however it's a completely different ball game. The power of the flux on 3s is immense and instant but also very controllable. It's very quiet compared to the nitro and racing around the track we're getting like 30 mins run time per lipo and they only take an hour to charge. I find I'm constantly fighting with the nitro to stop it over heating or cutting out but that could be down to poor tuning. It's nice to have two cars in the respect of having spares of everything. I use the nitro for an hour or two then get back on the flux. I've considered selling the nitro but then you are more involved with nitro. You actually have to do something with it lol. I don't know what I'll do with it yet. When I haven't run it for a week or so I get the urge to use it. I love the flux it gets the most attention but I still enjoy nitro every now and then.

Vanrad
Hmmmm its very very tempting are there any parts that you can take from one kit to another? Im seeing shocks from other models that I was wondering if they could be retro fitted so as to give a bit more ground clearance when it lands from some jumps. JoeGT
RC freaks has proline shocks on his. They are awesome.
bobby288
the proline shocks are alot better and you can hop up a few other parts also but they are not easy to get hold of. i have the alloy carriers and knuckles on mine along with the powerstrokes and the only thing i keep breaking is the bloody body post mounts.. its near enough every time i go out, i think this week i am going to try and mod it in some way to make it stronger. the mount snaps in exactly the same place every time (where the body post screws to the mount) really annoying
Vanrad
Hmm I was thinking some shocks from say one of the trucks, not the savage as they look huge but maybe something a bit longer. If I get this kit im looking to get the alloy parts to beef bits up and if its the body mounts that keep going have you thought about steel or alloy ones if there is any one who makes them? Also what are the best battery's for these as im hearing s3 and I have no clue what that means but it seems to make them go lick stink. And gears with more teeth? im a bit green on this as my first kit was a kyosho nitro car that I managed to blow all 4 shocks at one on a jump. JoeGT
It's not the posts that's the problem. It's the plate they screw into there isn't much meat around the back if the body post where it joins the plate. 3s lipos are what you want. Do some research as they have a couple of different variables such as discharge rate etc. Up rating the pinion seems pointless to me. I can't see why you'd need 62mph It's not the posts that's the problem. bobby288
exactly that joe it needs beefing up where the post screws in, i am going to have a play around tonight and see if i can come up with something as i am going to have to cut and shut my old body post mounts anyway as everywhere is out of stock (that tells the story in itself) everywhere had them 2 weeks ago!! going to cut all my old mounts in half as some the right has snapped and some the left and mix and match and then maybe washers either side of the mount to sandwich it or something along those lines. Vanrad
Hmmmm ok so the discharge rate is key im guessing ok and as for the pinion wheel I may go down that road and when I get the car as im thinking its going to be the wr8 and as im a big DC fan as well it will fit in nicely lol. I think a look on ebay for some shocks off ebay and a bit of experimentation as well lol. So who do you guys use for tune up parts other than the HPI range? Ive heard the name integy used a bit?
Vanrad
Right its going to be this one I get lol ive just had a look at some parts and was wondering if you guys can tell me if they would be a good idea. The Aluminium Read hub Carriers set along with the Knuckle set and the C Hub set The 19 Tooth pinion gear (defo gona get lol) The bearings im thinking of going for the link that was posted a page back as I recon I may need em lol Im not sure about the tyres?
RC Freaks
Integy don't make any parts for this car that I know of, nor any others for alloy parts.
RC Freaks
I've got the c hubs and will be getting every other alloy upgrade on monday. I'd recommend alloy hub carriers if you're going to bash this thing hard. Tyres - depends how off road you are going to go! The KB tyres are super grippy and can handle most terrain to be honest. JoeGT
Yes 3s. 40-50c 5000mah is what we use
coldcuppatea
Took mine out on Black Rock Sands in North Wales today. Brilliant beach that you can take your real car on too, with lovely hard packed sand. Used the tamiya super gripper tyres which were superb. Think I'll pop a set on some HPI wheels. As usual I was cut short with breakages. Today it was my first body post breakage (at the bottom as you guys have mentioned) and, another new one...one of the tiny circlips that hold the pin that fixes the lower front suspension arms came off. Rescued the pin before it came all the way out but it ended my fun for the day!
