Are they any good....I am after a Marder for my son and I have found one on ebay for £350 but it has a Zenoah G2D engine which he advises has been stripped and rebuilt...(He owns a modelshop)

Are they any good and is the price okay or is too high.....

Any help would be appreciated...

Ta

I'm no expert but from what I've seen engines are usually around the 200 mark, altho I know Zenoah are meant to be very good if not the best u can get I'm not sure if the price matches the engine.

try googling the engine and see if u can find a few prices for a new one then u'll have an idea

Just spoken with Modelshop and he says the engine has been fully rebuilt but he is waiting for a kill switch. He says the only issue is that if I wanted to upgrade the engine, the parts wont fit as it is older - I said that I would just put a new Zenoah in than mess around...the car is mint, with new exhaust, brand new in box radio and servos, Large Hitec steering servo installed, litre of two stroke oil, brand new body and tyres and rims...all for £350 all in....

Goolies to it - just bought it for my son for Xmas!

Happy days - its gonna be a beggar to hide this thing from him till then LOL

Hi Nod,

Just had a quick look on web, G2D has the same specs as the G230, but slightly less torque and a smaller carb  .

Tom,s gonna love it :good:

BUG!

Bug, when you are free my mate, can you take a look at this one for me as well...just to make sure all is in order?? :whistling:

PS Have a great holiday mate..... ;)

I know its mad...but the reason is that I have just been made redundant from my job at the RAC after 12 years. I have also (on Tuesday) been offered a new job closer to home...hense very large redundancy payout ...Thought if I buy it now.... ..the rest is history. :whistling:

LOL

im positive that ive seen these engines used in planes as they have slightly less speed and more torque to swing big props

The G2D has a slightly lower tourqe output but as known in flying world they are the best of the best and renouned for there pulling power. not sure but check a few flying forums and see if a slightly larger car can be added or of any mods too get more power.

can or are petrol engine prone to over heating?

my lawnmower never does no matter how hot outside, and my strimmer has a few times but it generally hold up on the hottest of days, are these engines the same in that respect?

all petrol car engines i know of have a fan incorporated into the fly wheel which cools the crank case and the head is cooled enough by the moving air

never heard of any petrol engines over heating

The Zen G2D gives out a smoother powerband than the later G230 engines which are more like switches. Its not as powerful but the power it has is much more usable

Nods you lucky [CENSORED] im only gonna get about 5k when i get made redundant in october, perfect opportunity to acquire more toys

I work in a burner manufacturing place down meanwood mate making stuff for cookers and boilers etc. After todays frustration with a new nitro engine i may just buy another petrol toy come the time

I know what you mean with the nitros...I still have three of them and they are a pain the bum!
