I'll let you know how much ground clearance is possible tomorrow.

Spares are easy, Schumacher sell direct. At the moment, the Menace is still the GTRe, but:

Add longer shocks

change the front bumper for the normal Menace one

fit Menace wheels/tyres

it'd basically be an electric Menace truck.

I haven't had the space to give it a flat out run, but it should theoretically be doing 40+mph when it clicks into 3rd gear, on the current gear change springs.

The 1 single aim of this car is to be cheap but fun.

I don't want stupid power, stupid speeds or stupid amounts of bling. I just want it to work and have fun with it.

So no, I don't want 14 cells. ;)

My Losi XX Cr only cost £35 from ebay with ([CENSORED]) electrics, I stripped out the electrics and put my own in (including a 19t motor) and now its plenty of fun off road. The only problem iv had is with the diff but this seems to be down to age, at the mo its holding up with some pro 2 diff bits lol. You can get plenty of spares cheaply from the usa as well, there so cheap on ebay though im considering buying a roller for spares.

Next up for it is a 2 speed gearbox (made by hpi for losi  ) and maybe 7 cells.

The T2 has been discontinued for ages now, last made in 1996/7.

Spares will be hard to find, but the design is fairly strong. Think of it as a race-spec Rustler.

I'd go for the RTR one. That way you'll have a car to run out of the box instead of having to build it, plus you can sell the kit electrics as and when you want to go faster.

yeah ide go wth the Ft as you just get little things that u dont think about that improve the truck greatly and the ft parts cost alot fo your making a great saving. You gte the bearings and threaded shocks which are also a added bonus.

Cheers adam

Where can I get a FT from?

EDIT: I found one in the US, they are about half the price than the UK. I think I'll get a motor and ESC to so all I need is a servo and radio gear.

Does anyone know if the GP4300s fit in? If I lay 7 down?

I got a quote from Modelsport for the FT, £220ish which is way too expensive for me. :(

Probably get a standard Team Edition, unless I can find a good international FT supplier, to get it nice and cheap. ;)

if your not doing crazy ass jumps, just general thrashing about, then a T4 will be good. the drivetrain on mine has held up to a feigao 380c 7t and hasnt made a single squeak yet. i may end up hopping up my T4 to the max, dependant if i can find some good quality parts. anyone know of anywhere that sells shock towers, hubs etc in aluminium?

Thanks!

Remember though, any impact on an alloy bit will put the impact onto a weaker bit - like the chassis.

What would be better? £25 for a new chassis or a couple of quid on a wishbone or shock tower?

i guess leaving it stock would be ok then- i didnt really think about that to be honest. i may get the new rustler. ive found a place that i could get it for £125 shipped (from the us)
