help on ansmann virus .21

hi ive broke in my engine and ive come to tune it and set my lsn at 3 and half turn out and it wont start so i flushed it to edges and it starts but it realy rich and then when i come to lean it it takes some time but i get it like 2 full turns in and its still lots of smoke and boggy but then after that just the tinyest of turns to lean it will just stall so if any1 could help me i would be greatfull

ok but i throught the engine is ment to start on the default settings and mine dosnt (lsn) default it has to be flush with the end of throttel linkage and then its way to rich no power at all and im leaning it in at 1/8th turns and ive checked for leaks (ETC) and im new to nitro rc but ive watched 100s of vids on youtube b4 i brought a nitro car so im waiting for some new glow plugs and then just going to keep trying

when i brought this car it fired up 1 pull broke engine in but as soon as i go to tune it just dont want to do anyfin no more but i wont stop still it starts bcuz it was such a beast on the 5th tank :)))

main problem is it a budget engine,try sealing ect,but i found those engines can be all over the place from one day to the next,get your glow plugs and keep trying,or if it gets too much,look at a argus engine and starter box,it better to spend money on a good engine,rather than lose interest in the hobby,

You say you are tuning the LSN after breaking in the engine...I'm presuming you have tuned the HSN already? If not you need to tune the HSN first then tweak the LSN.

If you have tuned the HSN then ignore this post :thumbsup:

im useing 25% model technics secal personaly i think its the glow plug it glows but it is a bit dirty my first nitro rc was a hsp backwash people think there cheap weak and team infinaty engines are crap but they realy are not the only reason it broke was me i was on a bmx track and bcuz people was watching bcuz i did my first backflip it did like 4 and then had a terrifing fall to its death but ive fixed half of it so im getting to no the world of nitro cars now :) wish i didnt break my hsp i wouldnt of brought the virus i wanted to get the hyper 7 mac28 :( but then i broke my old car so i brought the virus and my parts for old car for the price of the hyper7 :(

ps any1 have a runing virus 21 engine that is runing ??

if so can u tell me ur needle settings plzzzzzzzzzzz the stock setting dont work no fuel gets to the engine :(

my new glow plugs have come and fuel filter so i am going to try and get it going tonight ill try stock settings with a new glow plug and see if that sorts it if that fails i duno what else to do :(

If it's not starting on factory needle settings then there must be some other issue..as an engine should fire up on the stock settings (even though it may run overly rich). Have you made sure the carb gap is set correctly? double check everything again and give it another go. Good luck :thumbsup: Oh and definitely leave the LSN alone until the HSN is tuned properly.. try leaning the HSN a bit 1/8 - 1/4 turn If you still have no luck in starting it.

right ive set the lsn and hsn to stock setting checked carb gap took fuel tank off check it check fuel lines and the engine wont even prime on factory and then the lsn is on factory setting the throttel carb wont open until i richen it out and i have to richen it out alot 4 it to prime any help m8

sounds like an air leak or blockage

right i can get it going it but when full trottle it dont move lots of smoke and if i just give it quarter throttle then half so on so on it will get to full throttel so which 1 do i lean 1st hsn or lsn

I am no engine tuning expert but I would tune the HSN first then the LSN virtually all I have read about tuning states the HSN should be tuned first,

reset the lsn to flush and richen the hsn to get it started then tune from there, you shouldnt really have to touch the lsn as it can all be done with the hsn

i got my ansmann .21 started today after weeks of tinkering to get it to run it should pretty much start on any rich setting without touching the lsn

cheers m8 i havent realy toutched it tonight bcuz my cousin lent me his savage cuz i was haven nightmares with me ansmann so was havening so much fun doing wheelies down the road :P so im sort it tomo cheers bud

no mate i swaped it for a brushless lipo truck and a nitro road car but im trying to swap or sell that best thing to do mate is get rid of it lol

no man best thing to do is seal the engine and google hard for how others have sorted there annsmann engines i wanted to get an annsmann rc but everybody kept telling me to steer clear of them because of cheap plastic i wouldnt call the virus 2 that cheap tho not really they should improve there rcs and im sure they will sell like space cakes ide like to build afew of there kits but wont because of there brittle plastics

what nitro car & lipo truck did you swap your virus for man

quite shocked tho that much trouble from a just run in engine should have left the needles alone lol i killed my 3.3 after trying to tune

lol i am glad i swaped now it my first brushless lipo so i love it the nitro car im trying to get rid of bcuz its an on road its got 2 gears and it belt driven and it has got evo shell with light kit and the lipo truck is a step up striker mt1 with a etronix 13.0t 3300k brushless motor and a 2s lipo it wheelies like crazy very fast the only problem now is i need to find a spur gear for the truck i striped it lol

so is your ansmann working now?

they leak like a gooden out the rear back plate just use a washer before the one way bearing that fixed it for me. you may need to adjust the lsn as the stock settings and **** my hyper tt didnt wheeley at all now with some tweeks i carnt keep it down and this a 4x4 car/ ow and i bent all the drive shafts.

once yo have the engine running it will be your friend for life

Lsn should be flush with half a turn out from flush , 3.5 turns to 4 turns out on hsn mate maybe 3 and 3/4 on hsn make it perfect , open carb slightly on throttle trim and it will scream with happiness
