Took the Mojave 4s out then it ****** it down so it got soaked, was fun ripping it in the wet made for some cool drifting action 😀. Got it drying by the heater ( yes I know about the rats nest of cables and the fire hazard on the right  🙈)

I do this too when my cars are wet, i usually tilt them up so the water runs off easier

Yeah I did that and was hoping the wheel bearings would survive the outing but alas no 😑 , try and turn the wheels the bearings sound quite crunchy.. joy of joys! 🤣. When I can be arsed I will open them up and fill them with marine grease 🙂.

What i do is when i get home i take the wheels off and prop it against a wall and spray a thin spray grease on top of the bearings (3 on the front and 3 on the rear) and leave it for 5 mins then rotate the axles then turn the car over and do the same on the other side and then take it inside to dry off, usually the bearings are spot on after doing that, hope that makes sense

I usually do a light spray WD40 on the bearings after a wet outing but I was all cold and wet and could not be arsed 🙈.

Spray grease is something I never thought about before after a wet run for the bearings , thanks for that 🙂.

Now to find some spray grease guess Halfords will get a visit after work tonight  😃.

You want a light spray grease, something that is thin enough to penetrate into the bearings i use wurth hhs2000 https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiitvOu_-GLAxXCh1AGHefJB74YABARGgJkZw&co=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAlPu9BhAjEiwA5NDSA_TEf7sX6WZe_3PQHD-TKB0AoOXRgn-zwSXUUncM5l40VrjLeu78ZxoCcCEQAvD_BwE&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2McocyPAheChoYbAh4Q2Wok8D7Jx0fUQINnOzOloaIi3y1Q3FwTWKtxojgfeyZ1yWcrGSh5VDbO6TohrA_udevEg_6vfilaujeyDYix_z_7QJNZiy&sig=AOD64_2xZQ_YZBo7UPXD5LILfvqRc3cxBQ&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwio3-6u_-GLAxVQQEEAHc10DTQQ5bgDKAB6BAgIEAs&adurl=

Finally got round to doing some maintenance on the Mojave 4s, not touched this since I had it In December and it's been my go to RC as it just works and drives so smoothly. Got to say so far this has been a joy to work on these 4s Arrmas are really growing on me.

The power module thing loves to get stuck because of sand and grit but good old wiggle with a big ol' flat blade screw driver gets it moving.

After all the water it went through on Sunday not much got into to the diff and most the grease was still intact so just smeared that back on where it flung off the gears and got stuck to the inside of the diff housing...yes I am that cheap 😆. Managed to save 2 out of 4 hub bearings, that's the rear done so rest will get done later in the week.

Also dropped the motor which concluded with it taking a chunk out of the garage concrete floor 🫣, seems to still work but time will tell if the motor fly's apart mid bash 😆.

If it's not too late then bearings from RCBearings.co.uk seem nice quality.

I killed a lot of original Arrma shielded bearings in one very wet run on the 3s Big Rock, but the replacements from RCBearings have all held up much better.

Aye these arrma bearing are not branded so me thinks cheapos they got from a car boot sale 😃. I did an RC bearings order yesterday but completely forgot about the mojave ones 🙈 they are that quick at postage my order was shipped before I could ask for more stuff to be added 🤣. Good job postage is cheap from them.

Had the first attempt at driving or suppose riding the Promoto SM out the front of the house. First there's really not enough room to drive it there, second I think the front brake just needs to be ever so slightly more powerful. Need to find somewhere with more space and get a bit more practice with it as there's definitely a learning curve for these.

They do seem really good and the pinions from there seem a nice quality as well.

To try and get more run time each season, I have started to slowly pick up his bearings sets for the vehicles I use the most.

I had one of the MOD 1 pinions 11t for my Kagama it only lasted a pack or two before it turned to dust, I might of had a dodgy one but its put me off the pinions they sell.

Got a RW pinion to replace it and its holding up well.

Oh not good then!  I find MOD1 a bit strange and for my Kagama I tried a Yeah Racing plus a generic pinion but the mesh just wasn't as good as a Corally one.  I could visibly see that the shape of the teeth differed between them.

Final bit of wrenching for the day to see what broke in the HPI Jumpshot diff.  Looks to be a sad looking sun gear.

Frustratingly, I have a set of gears ordered (ordered weeks back) but the parts aren't in stock until 16th April!

I was hoping it would be a snapped pin but have ended up putting everything back together minus the differential as there is no way I will remember where all the various screws went with a good 2 month wait for parts.

I have always liked the WR8 but my general experience with owning an HPI has not been amazing.

I have said before, but the Jconcepts parts trays are brilliant and I now have a few of these.
