People do this to break in new motors to rinse the carbon out as the new brushes bed in - some say 👍 some say 👎 however in my case I soaked the motor in bearing cleaner then dunked it to get rid if the many trips where I’d totally submerged the motor in swamps 😇 Then I let it drip dry and bearing cleaned it after, finally giving the bush and bearing a drop of oil for lubricating.

Surprisingly pleased with the insides here, but the two large bearings for the propshaft outputs are toast - they run pretty free, but the side to side slop is fairly noticeable. 10x15x8 is the size if you own one of these RGT/FTX/Maverick/China gearboxes, spend a couple of quid at RC bearing on some rubber sealed ones and a matching shim each side.

Everything else was good to go after re-grease. Sadly the gearbox case gave up the ghost and split whilst tightening, but I have a spare (again cheap to keep if you run these). I might change the propshaft like I meant too in the first place next!

Spent a bit of time with the duct tape and my boys carnage shell. Hopefully it will help - it appears to be made of the most fragile plastic on Earth.

Yep, I've got paint flaking off my Vantage after about 3 days of owning it. Will pick up some tape tomorrow

I’m pretty sure FTX bodys are made of eggshell

Finished up prepping the speed car this eve ready for a proper run. Load of bearings replaced, few bits shimmed up and stuck a fresh body on as well for good measure.

If all goes well tomorrow, I’ll be back here in about 24hrs bragging about my 3 digit pb. If the weather, road conditions or most likely driver error (me) ends the run prematurely 💥, you’ll hear nothing 😅

image.thumb.jpg.19fc8623247be25b716a8c99da446eb2.jpgNot today, but over last few days, set about making changes to the Element Enduro. Really didn’t like the Trailwalker body shell and although stock tyres are excellent, the 1.55 rims didn’t give much ground clearance.
So it’s 1.9 steelies with ProLine Krawlers and a Ford ranger bodyshell with Element inner fenders.

Next…add window masks and wait for a sunny day to throw some paint at it

…. Have ordered some aluminium rods and tubes and will make homemade bumpers. Will also replace the stock ESC with a 1080.

Looking nice, is that the new proline ranger shell?

@Ant.pDid you run the hyper? Howed you get on?

was going better than I’d hoped. Tracking like an arrow, grippy as you like with the warm tarmac, then the radio glitched 🤦🏼‍♂️

fortunately it was at the end of a warm up run whilst turning. Assume I was slightly out of range. Drove itself into a curb and the front wing popped off in true FTX style. After that, the front kept lifting on anything over around 60-70mph.

Clocked 84mph without trying though, so optimistic about the next run.

how did yours go?
