anyone had a thunder tiger mt4 g3?

First off...2 x 2S, if you connect the batteries in series, gives you 4S .... or 14.8V. The batteries have to be matched pairs, and the Mah does not double....

If you connect them in parallel, you get double the Mah....but the output is only 7.4V, which is not good for one of these trucks.

There is no difference between a pair of 2S in series and a 4S. The 'S' refers to the cells in series in the pack. a 2S has 2 cells linked together inside it. A 4S has 4. By connecting up a pair of 2S you are just making a 4S. As long as you use decent connectors, it's just the same.

I would recommend a pair of 2S Turnigy softpacks. 40C 5000Mah. Would be fine in a G3 and you can get them from HobbyKing's UK warehouse. I run them in my Hyper ST brushless and they are excellent value.

So the advantage of 2x 2s is a possible 10,000 mah if both packs are 5000mah instead of say my sons turnigy 4s which is 5000 mah?

Depends if you run them in series or parallel.

Series will combine battery voltage so you would be running 4s, parallel combines battery capacity.

Thanks.

So if I'm running 2x 2s in series I may as well buy a 1x 4s & still be able to use it in the hyper?

Balance doesn't come into it as both the packs would be on the same side of the truck, for a lots of folks it's an economical thing to do especially if they have multiple models that all take 2s packs of a similar size, I can use my 2s packs in my boats, my firestorm and my hyper cage as well as my venom mm 450..

No....that's exactly what you won't get.

You EITHER get

2x2S in PARALLEL ..... 7.4V ( 2S still) but you add up the Mah ... so 2 x 5000Mah would give you 10,000Mah .... but only 2S, and no good for the truck you want or your sons Hyper conversion

OR

2x2S in SERIES ... 14.8V but you do not add up the Mah.... so 2 x 5000Mah is still 5000Mah but your battery is equivalent to a 4S one

which means that 2 x 2S 5000Mah is exactly the same as 1 x 4S 5000Mah in every way that matters if you connect them in series. This is what I do for my car. I bought a mix of 2S and 3S batteries, so I could run 4S ( pair of 2S ) 5S (2s and 3S) or 6S ( pair 3S). I made sure they were all 40C Turnigy 5000Mah batteries, so they would all pair up nicely and give me a choice of power depending on conditions.

Just luck i guess if you mean finding one in stock, if you mean the truck its self then it's one hell of a great buy and one i wont sell even for more money than its worth so that has to say something !!

how similar is the st-1 to the mt4 g3?

Are there parts compatibility lists anywhere? Just wondering how much of a straight swap some of the g3 parts are onto an st-1 and vice versa.

Why not just go for the e-mta4?

Sent from my Nexus 4

I have a very clean ST-1 that I picked up as part of a job lot... :)  (see the thunder tigers'r'us thread). It's got an engine that I need to repair (conrod gone, otherwise looks clean). The chassis is practically unmarked - just two marks where it's been held down to start - no long scratches along chassis at all.

I don't know whether to keep it and convert, or sell and buy something else. If g3 parts fit then I have those as a source of spares for it.

Sell it fella i'd be interested in it !!

It can be done but for the cost you might as well just go buy the ST4

I'd strip it and use it for parts
