I thought about a temp fix with an allen key but didnt want to bodge it up as its a new truck, i shall get the pin 2moro hopefully and be back in action! Sooooo, who is going to start a "MT4 G3 owners club" thread?
JayJ
Jayj this truck rocks, took mine out today and pulled some big air at a local bmx track, just don`t expect the a-arms to survive for long if you land on the side of a wheel from a 15 foot high backflip fail! Some of the abuse it takes is unreal.I`ll get a quick vid up one day I've seen some videos on YouTube and it looks great, am hoping it will hold up to some big air as this'll be a hardcore bash truck. Look forward to seeing some video, mine should be here tomorrow or Tuesday. I hope!! Sooooo, who is going to start a "MT4 G3 owners club" thread? Well I haven't got mine yet so I think it's down to one of you guys! Question guys, does this come with a sway bar set included and are the wheels true beadlocks? snappy
Question guys, does this come with a sway bar set included and are the wheels true beadlocks? The rear sway bar was already fitted on mine and i fitted the front one, it came in the box but the manual says its an optional extra! No idea what beadlock wheels are, im a newb to the RC world! bueller
Yeah it comes with both swaybars but they are fragile, both of mine snapped without much effort so i don't use any at the mo.The "beadlocks" are just plastic rings that screw onto the wheel, the tyres are glued. JayJ
Cheers for the replies guys, appreciated it! Shame about the beadlocks, they look nice and I was hoping they were genuine 'locks?!? Where exactly have the sway bars snapped? The metal wire or the plastic holders?
JayJ
Haven't run it yet as I'm at work but will tonight!
bueller
Yeah the metal, its really thin and brittle,if i decide to use some i may make some with piano wire or possibly use my x1crt ones
bueller
Haven't run it yet as I'm at work but will tonight!Lookin good, won't stay that way for long!
snappy
LOL! thats true! mine body is covered in grass from the back garden I think mine is better in Red Got the pin fixed today and the CVD heat shrink wrapped, so hopefully it wont happen again!! Dont forget to threadlock everything before taking it out for a run!
JayJ
Have to say I agree about the red looking nicer, especially with the red beads. TT sell blue beads too so why didn't they put blue beads on the blue bodied truck?!? I didn't have much choice in colour as I picked it up 2nd of eBay, not bad for Edited September 19, 2011 by JayJ
bueller
Sounds like a bargain.
JayJ
Yeah not to shabby either, does need a couple small things sorting like the chassis cover needs replacing because the previous owner cut a chunk out for LiPo wires?!? It's only just over a month old though, bought from Modelsport on the 4th August 2011.
bueller
That`ll be the other one they had sold when i enquired about mine! They should be more popular but i suppose they are quite new.RRCI liked theirs in the gadget show test. I`ve just strapped and glued my 40 series trenchers that i bought off Dirtyhabitz but i may not use them until i get a new shell. When i get chance i`ll post some pics. I also trimmed the chassis cover to fit my 4s lipo`s in.

snappy
^^Cool^^ After seeing that, I am taking my wheelie bar off!!!
JayJ
Nice video bueller, nicely flipped! Had a quick go with mine last night, has some steering issues. Turns tighter one way than the other and I'm not sure there is any point to a wheelie bar as mine just diffs out? Has anybody checked the diffs for fluid? From previous experience even the likes of HPI & Traxxas can't seem to remember to put fluid in their diffs and Losi just use grease? Think I'm going to open mine up and look see, I have some Traxxas diff fluid a so will use that.
bueller
Theres some grease in the diffs but i added some more.I'm gonna put oil in at some point.Check the servo end points and linkages to fine tune the steering,i put an old savox in mine. JayJ
Cheers bueller, I'll check the linkage tonight after work. I do have a few top end servo's laying around and another on the way, not sure what the spec of the stock servo is but it does seem quite powerful? Might stick a Hitec HS-7955 TG in there or the XP1015 I've got coming, will see how the stocker holds up first. Def gonna do the diffs, I think I'm going to just tear the whole truck down and rebuild it. Just to make sure everything is secure, using threadlock. Think the wheels need upgrading too as they didn't appear to have much grip during my little run, shame though because they do look the part despite not being genuine 'locks! Yeah the servo is pretty good but my savox is slightly quicker. When i fitted it i turned it 180 degrees and fitted a shorter link arm and this seems to help the steering. Tbh you need a big torquey servo to move those tyres, especially on a grippy surface. When i fit the trenchers i may need something more powerful because they seem well grippy. Now i want to get a new shell, either a proline topkick or f150 raptor .... JayJ
If you want a monster powerful servo then you want a Hitec HS-7955 TG, FTW! With 333oz/in at 6v it'll move heavy duty RC monster truck wheels with ease! They are a little pricey at about £60 but well worth it IMO. Speed: 0.19 / 0.15 sec @ 60 deg. Torque: (4.8v/6v) 18 / 24 kg.cm Hitec HS-7955TG £62.99 I have two HS-5990TG's too so servo's aren't an issue, as I said though I'll see how the stocker goes first. Might try a 7955 at some time though, just to see what real world differences it makes. Didn't have time to do the steering linkage tonight but working tomorrow and Thursday night, then off till Tuesday next week so will have time then to play around with the MT4. Bueller, what wheels have you mounted the Trenchers too??
creamsodauk
jay what do you think of the tt then compared to the sav etc. i really liked the look of it myself
JayJ
Hey Kris, how ya doing fella? Can't really give an honest answer atm as I haven't driven the MT4 much, had a short run last night in the dark but that's it until I finish nights this set. As for mechanically it does appear pretty sound, the ESC looks to be a rebadged Xerun 150 Amp and the motor I think I read is a rebadged Leopard so should be a good combo. Even though the steering on my MT4 is off atm it's much better than the Savages steering and I challenge anybody who owns or has owned a Savage to deny the poor turning radius of a Savage even after installing the HPI Suspension Conversion. The layout of the MT4 is the traditional tub style chassis like many nitro's making it extremely easy to work on, definitely easier than a Savage and maybe even easier than an LST. Probably as easy to work on as Revo and the chassis cover is easy to remove. Maybe a slight design flaw but the truck includes the cables to connect the type of LiPo's that don't have wires but have three small holes, like Trakpower LiPo's. This leaves very little room for normal heavy gauge wired LiPo's like Turnigy's which is what mine came with, as mentioned above the previous owner has cut the chassis cover to accommodate the wires but it's been done pretty poorly so I'll pick up a replacement cover and work something out. The build quality isn't Losi, Traxxas or HPI standard but it's better than Ansmann or Atom. At least it has hexes rather than posidrive (philips) screws, another plus. And then it's compatible with TT ST-1 upgrades, that's another plus in my books. I'll give you the low down on running once I have run it some more but it's looking good so far! EDIT: The space for batteries us a little limited, the 5000 mAh Turnigy's bearly squeeze in there. Edited September 22, 2011 by JayJ

JayJ
I'm not a happy bunny! Firstly it rained today, so no bashing! Secondly I got a Hobbywing 2 in 1 program box, arrived in the post this morning but it won't connect to the ESC?? I don't know if it's a compatibility thing with the Ace RC ESC or if the program box I bought is faulty, I don't have an Xerun to test it on!
bueller
Thats a coincidence,my hobbywing programmer came today BUT it will only work up to step 5,doing it by the switch goes to step 6 but according to the manual it should go to step 12 (i think). So i can`t get into the advanced steps . Does not do what it says on the tin! I rang the importer but they have no experience with this esc, thats useful...not.
