SatNav
Hi, Ive just acquired an ansmann smacker brushed bog standard stock rtr car for my 8 yr old to practice with before he gets his Merv for his birthday. My question is regarding a brushed motor I have knocking around and whether it will run on the standard esc which has V/R 13T written on the top. The motor is a Reedy modified motor with 12 x 2 engraved into the face. If it'll run on the ESC will it make much difference with regards to speed and torque, I'm aware that the smacker is made from Stilton and easily breaks but I would just like to know as im looking to make it a little faster for him. Thanks Brett BTW I am an electric newbie so be gentle and explain things in simple terms
hyper_8_racer
looks like the esc has a 13t motor limit. so you couldnt have anything below a 13t motor.
SatNav
Could you just explain what the 12 x 2 is ? And if used with the correct esc would it be quicker than a stock setup.
hyper_8_racer
12 x 2 is a 12t double motor. the fewer turns of the the motor the better ther performance will be. it will be better than stock but i dont think that your stock esc would take the motor
SatNav
Ok, thanks for the help Hyper. Is there an easy way to tell if damage is being done to the esc or will I be better off waiting till I can afford a new esc ?
Swerving
Ok, thanks for the help Hyper. Is there an easy way to tell if damage is being done to the esc or will I be better off waiting till I can afford a new esc ? Yes..... Smoke might be coming from it! If the setup is for your 8 yr old, why not let him learn to drive with the stock motor, faster down the straights, and wild on the bends, may not be as fast round a lap as smooth all the way. From my experience the M smacker is tougher than some, particularly for a newbie, Just my advice!

SatNav
Really? Mine breaks nearly every other run! Hi Rabbit, where do you get your metal gears from ? Do you have a link. Also how fast is your setup ?
Gaz!
if you want to upgrade the esc, try out a mtroniks rv11, there was some for sale new on ebay for
SatNav
Cheers Gaz I understand much better now If I get a new esc will I see a marked improvement over stock motor and esc.
Gaz!
it will be better but im not too sure how much, you may want to look at the gearing too, but im not brilliant with that if im honest. at least with a rv11 esc and that 12x2 motor it will be matched and work well, do the gearing if you can and use lipo?? that should all make a vast improvement overall. i used to race a b4 with a 14x4 motor, lrp esc and 2s lipo and it would match lap times with brushless b4s. if i can help anymore please feel free to ask mate
Swerving
Really? Mine breaks nearly every other run! it's far tougher than a Blizzard! guess it depends what you're doing with it! I have run both on Tarmac, with on road tyres, and used up the country's entire stock of Blizzard front cvd's but apart from some bent suspension pins the smacker is still as bought.. well there's a few scratches on it!!! Rabbit80
Hi Rabbit, where do you get your metal gears from ? Do you have a link. Also how fast is your setup ? Metal gearset from ebay. Mine was last clocked at 47Mph with a 5700Kv motor + 22T pinion - on 2S LiPo!
Jumper
My master smacker breaks all the time too. It's got a 15T HPI Firebolt motor. When working i got it up to 35 on an 8.4V battery.
