Just to update - I bought the pajero - It will be getting the defender body (ordered) - already uprated the shocks and put in a full set of new bearings - will post more when the body arrives. In the mean time I was looking for a driver - found this on ebay for 25p --

from starship to landy driver in 5 minutes..... (plus some drying time!) :whistling:

UPDATE

When I recieved the car - it is safe to say that it had seen a lot of use - certainly provided many hours of use, and a few mods along the way.

So I set about giving it a bit of a clean. Stripped down to individual compoents - cleaned and re-assembled - whilst I was at that I swapped out all of the tamiya nylon bushes and replaced with bearings.

As it is now -

As I need to extend the wheelbase, and the old tamiya links had been adapted to attach tie-rods, I ordered some brackets for the rear axle (on far left you can see them attached) and hopped up the steering to all aluminium with ball bearings - moves virtually friction free now.

Plan is for this week to attach the tie rods and build some brackets to mount the body.

The shell is amazing, and has every single extra you could ask for !

got some of the annsman wheels that are clearly based on landy wheels,

The rear diff is locked, but I have removed all the blu-tack from the front difff and re-built that (not an easy job!) as it is not going to be a rock crawler and I want some realism in off road driving - I am thinking of unfixing the rear diff, but would need to buy the planatary gears for that, I have a 55t motor and a rock crawler ESC ready to go in. Only thing left now is the prop shaft - as I need to move the rear wheels back, the existing one will not quite reach - as soon as I have the exact measurments I will begin to search for one - Suspect it may have to be an axial prop at the moment, - which gives me a good excuse to hop up my scx10 and use one of the props currently on that!

Will post more once I have it assembled. Then the big question ia - What colour?

:good:

Looks great mate :good:

One thing to watch out with on them Landy shells....I found sticking the bits of plastic down to be a right pain!

Once she is sprayed up,place the windows, lights and whatever and melt the little tabs from the inside of the shell, with a soldering iron - They go rock soild :P If you glue the bits in,they end up falling out or makes a mess

As for colour heres my old one:

It was a light kind of blue, which i liked but i was stuck between that and a sandy kind of colour....

Spray paint: The halfords 1:1 car paint is the best stuff, does wonders :good:

Thanks for the tips!

As for the colour, I am also torn between that shade of blue (the original colour of my Series III) and the sandy colour - which was the colour of my first ever Landy!

It may do. TBH have not had a chance to carry on with this for a few weeks, I still do not know exactly what length I require. As soon as I get my finger out I will update and let you know how I get on re the prop. shaft

Hi!

Not sure of the length, but if you want to order one the part number for an MA7 Touareg propshaft is 4135050 - hope this helps!
