  1. Yeah, RPM. There was so much play in the standard ones even from New, whereas these fit really well and give it all a more sturdy feel. I've not used it much lately because of work but I'm confident that they'll hold up to me abuse. They have so far. Thanks for the link. I'll have a look now!
  2. On another note, where did you get the turnbuckles? I don't really need anything now, after changing the poor original front arms, springs and t bones but still, extras are always nice :-)
  3. 70mm on the front too. Probably doesn't need it and someone said about running the original rear springs on the front, but I fit them for the same reasons as the rears. More adjustments whist I'm out, allowing for changes in terrain. For
  4. Not at the moment, no. I've none on my phone but when I'm home next weekend, I'll take some. They pretty much fill the shock body, unlike the standard ones which were loose with less than half of the useable preload threads.
  5. I fit some of these onto mine, to allow more adjustment of the preload. I have the mediums on the front and hard on the back. I find the medium on the back and front works best on grass and dirt/gravel. Hard for tarmac. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/fastrax-1-10th-70mm-red-hard-springs-for-95mm-shocks/rc-car-products/369503 Cheap as chips
  6. Going to have to get some RPM front arms. These had a lot of play in them from day one and with little use, both front arms have split and popped out from the pin. There's been no real tumbles or big jumps at all either so I can only assume the cold weather and loose initial fitting are causing the premature wear. I bought some more standard arms and they've done the same. Purely running on short grass but I was using the 'speed pack' gearing and 3S. Couldn't keep it on the floor but it was quick for a 1/10 and surprisingly, the temps of both the motor and ESC were only touch warm... even with my freezing fingers. Impressed with the car though overall and would recommend them to anyone wanting a fairly versatile basher.
  7. I know the fan isn't waterproof but that has nothing to do with the setting of the ESC. As it happens, it was unplugged anyway. I haven't had a need for it, especially in these temperatures. It was working fine this evening though so I'll see how it goes. The main priority is tyres as these are turd and balloon up without much effort.
  8. Yep, pretty much the same although I stopped well above the LVC. I can only assume it's related to the water but then it was only damp yesterday, at most. Saying that, it is meant to be waterproof... If it happens again, I'll take it down to modelsport.
  9. Any reason why the ESC would keep forgetting itself? I had to go through the neutral/forward/reverse setup yesterday as there was nothing happening and today, after turning up at a business park.. there was nothing again. I went through the setup three times and there was no joy. Got it home and tried again and all is ok, for now...
  10. I really should remember to use that.. I had seen them fitted on this thread but didn't remember much being said about them. Seems mixed.. some say they're the best thing since Yorkshire puddings and others say that it handles like a floating turd. I'll be honest, the looks were what appealed to me with the grip an added bonus but if it's going to handle like a pig I'll not bother. Going hunting for some Dirt Paws but if there's no luck, I'll just go with a set of Vee 2\4 and a set of Dirt Hawgs.
  11. Any news that they'll bring a Flux version out along with it?
  12. I've been playing around with mine today... Nuts on 3S. All about the throttle control and it's nice having the power in reserve, although I can see how it would all go horribly wrong. Painted up a new bodyshell. Proline Baja for 1/10 Rock Crawler. Don't buy one as it doesn't fit.. but I'll use it for bashing. Looks nice with the Tamiya Pink/Gold backed in Black. I'll throw a pic up once In drill the mount holes. I've also been looking at some more wheels with some grass/dirt tyres on there. Does anyone run Badlands on their firestorm? If so, how much do they effect the drive, with their extra size? I think I can get away without changing the gearing but I have another pinion to try if not. This hobby can so easily get expensive
  13. Think I might wait for this one..
  14. Self Assessment done... I'm paying someone to do this next year for sure. Still, got to be another new RC incoming... :-)

Yeah, I'm sure there's a lot more that I could claim back that I'm not aware of but I've left it until the last minute as usual...

I'll have my next one with the accountant after my last invoice of the tax year. It's better me having my money, rather than the tax man!

  15. The LEDs are on lower side of the ESC. I think you see them if you're looking from the rear end but I can't quite remember for sure. I had the same problem though and also with the reverse throttle on the controller. It works OK, mind. Be aware that the settings they still give you in the manual for setting the slipper clutch is wrong too. It's the same as the HPI blitz. I've set mine at two turns out and it's fine for general use.
