  1. In the end I went with a TT-02, and a few "essential" upgrades. Common platform with my boys.
  2. I had seen these, but wondered if they looked a little bit less 'robust' for general carpark/tarmac running. They do look good though.
  3. Any idea where you can get them for around £50? Not finding them currently, and ones on a well known online auction site seem to be going for more..
  4. I certainly don't want to spend £300 on a chassis. (Although I can see hop-ups adding up!) Getting a bare chassis, and then adding ball bearings, CVA shocks, metal drive shafts and beefing up a few bits of the drive train gets me very close to the cost of the HPI chassis. Which has all those, and metal gearing making it 3S compatible.
  5. Thanks for that option. I'd not thought about the drift chassis, but not sure that will save me much, as I'll need new tyres, and planned in going brushless with motor. I'd then want to replace drive shaft parts with metal ones. I think I'll need to do a bit of costing up of all the mod's I'd want.
  6. Hi All, Having just bought my sons TT-02 Cars for xmas, I am slightly jealous, and contemplating treating myself. I was pondering the idea of getting a bare chassis, and adding my own (brushless) ESC and Motor, and doing a host of the usual upgrades to drivetrain, suspension, steering that are available from a number of sources. So, I could start with TT-02, TT-02S or TT-02R, and add my own bits. (Not sure which works out cheapest/less wasteful) Or, considering how much that will cost, is there something that might be better value, and maybe better overall, long term. I'm not looking for a competition car, just a fun tarmac runner. Eg, I wondered about the HPI Racing RS4 Creator Chassis. I'd prefer a kit, or at least something I can build myself, rather than full RTR. Needs to be durable, and easily repaired, including getting spares. Rich
  7. I've already got the tamiya ones. So really looking how to set those up, thanks.
  8. Hi all, Apologies if this is already answered, but search didn't work for me, for some reason. My son's have TT-02 cars coming for Xmas, and will also get CVA shocks. Both will be used outdoors on tarmac or concrete, hard surface, not always super smooth. What piston should I use for what are probably quite rough surfaces for these cars. I'm thinking the most holes. And least spring compression/pre load? What have others found works well? Thanks for any advice. Rich
  9. In the end, I (my son) went for a 1/10th Ruckus. Which I think was the best choice for him.
  10. Well, after much deliberation, my son eventually chose a Ruckus 2wd.
  11. Well, having looked at these trucks again with my son, he was quite happy with the idea of 2wd, almost keen. So the 2wd ruckus looks favourite. Also now considering the FTX Seige, and the LRP twister. Is there anything similar (including kits) to looks in that price bracket, maybe the team c Hyde? Would look at a firestorm, but that's pushing the budget a but too far.
  12. Awesome! Thanks. If somebody could confirm, by measuring maybe what a 2wd and 4wd ruckus measures ground clearance, that would be helpful. The figures on the web vary wildly from 38 to 60+mm. Thanks.
  13. Do you think the 2wd is better for that then? Including s bit of woodland running? I assumed 4wd would be better especially in rougher terrain? Rich.
