  1. Yeh I have a brushless set up that as long as it stays dry needs, as you say, no maintenance.
  2. I thought the ESC rating went down TO 15T..so 12T would be out of it's limits? Or am I being daft? EDIT: Yep, daft as a brush..You meant the ESC. D'oh.
  3. Ah thanks..I didn't know it had that effect on runtimes. So I learnt something today Yeh it's a HPI SC-15WP..a 15T limit I think.
  4. Would I see much of an improvement going from a 27T Saturn motor to a 15T Firebolt?
  5. Ok, just to paint the picture..my sons fine with speed and two wheel drive..he just had my old xxxt with a 9t brushless upgrade with a 7 cell nimh and he was getting 40+mph no problem. We put some Smasher tyres on it and added a gyro so he could go more offroad but 2wd has limitations and is - for a seven year old at least - harder to drive and easier to get stuck. I have a tmaxx and the losi couldn't cut-it when we went out together as it was constantly getting bogged down/stranded in wet muddy stuff or long grass etc or we'd be worried about breaking it when bashing. The
  6. Sorry to ask..but.. I'm just about to buy a new car it comes with a nimh battery but is 2s Lipo compatible. I have a battery I THINK is good (never bought Lipo before so if anyone has a better suggestion please chime in): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FLOUREON-2S-30C-7-4V-5200mAh-Lipo-RC-Battery-For-RC-Car-Buggy-Truck-Truggy-Hobby-/231336945059?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35dcc1a5a3 Can I get a recommendation for a charger. I only need to charge this one battery at a time at the moment so I don't need anything too fancy I just want something safe and reliable. Thanks
  7. I like the Wheely King...can't find the brushless version though.
  8. Thanks for the opinion. Not too interested in the flux as it's 2wd. I'll keep looking around as only have ~
  9. Was going to get one of these for my seven year old..what's the general opinion on this please guys. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ftx-carnage-1-10-4wd-brushless-truggy-rtr-waterproof/rc-car-products/40397 Thanks
  10. I'm open to reasonable offers or a swap for something electric my son can bash at the local forests/tracks...preferably RTR but radio gear isn't too important.
  11. My eBay ad - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151664837218?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Took my T Maxx out the other day, the conrod failed and took the piston with it. The sleeve looks undamaged but I'm not sure I can replace the piston without replacing the sleeve due to mating of the two. Up to this point the car has been well maintained and has always run great from brand new in 2008. You don't need me to tell you how fast or powerful these 3.3 TRX engines are..this car will when tuned right wheelie as long as you can keep your 'foot' down and will hit 40mph+ on almost any surface. Amazing fun and hugely satisfying...The upgraded rear end with the firmer springs, true track kit and heavier oil really gets rid of that saggy TMaxx feel meaning you can run a lower centre of gravity for massively improved handling and responsiveness - stopping it flipping over in corners at speed and also makes it capable of bigger. longer jumps. This car is great for bashing and tough too, I've only ever broken a arms before now. The car has had some recent upgrades and new parts prior to one failed run including...head protector, high quality silicone fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel cooler, HSP throttle servo failsafe, RPM truetrack kit, RPM rear shock tower, RPM rear body mounts, glow plug, all rubber seals and clips recently replaced, cable harness, four shock springs, shock oil, digital steering servo, new 2.4ghz radio gear and a new air filter to get this ready for summer but I can't afford to spend any more money on this unfortunately. All the above parts have had next to no use, maybe a few hours at the most. Diffs, tranny, brakes etc all in very good condition and well maintained. Clutch, bell, carb etc and other engine parts all in good condition. Failed parts included. The engine has been given after run oil and is in a sealy bag to prevent any moisture getting to it before it can be rebuilt. The parts required to get this back in full working order are available here for about
  12. I replaced the locked plastic diff in my Losi Speed-T with the RRP kit - balls and metal gears. When I built the diff it turns nicely, freely..but as soon as I try to snug the screw up enough to stop the diff gear spinning independently, the whole diff begins to lock up and makes a real grinding noise - as if the two diff cups aren't able to spin freely on the balls. I've tried to reassemble a few times but get the same result. Anyone else with this?
  13. I only recently got back into RCs after a 20-25 year break and the first mistakes I made were buying cars that were older due to their attractive purchase price..I quickly learnt that was a mistake as soon as I broke something. A spur gear was only available from the States, with a ridiculous shipping cost and worked out as much as I paid for the car, then a diff had to be fixed - again expensive. So in two breakages I spent well over the cost of the whole car. It broke again and is now sat in limbo as it would make more sense for me to buy a newer car with aftermarket support and easily available spares.
