  1. I used Hilsea Lines a bit when I lived in Pompy - the Slopes of Doom were fun but rig killers! Mostly it was the Forest of Bere but now the Forestry Commission has banned RC vehicles I was wondering where else to go that has decent parking
  2. After several years where other things got in the way, I am keen to get back into crawling. I used to go crawling at Hundred Acres but I know the Forestry Commission are not keen on RC vehicles being used on their forests. I know some meet near Hamble Marina for the rocks but are there any other good sites about the area?
  3. Took the Mauler out on Sunday and was impressed. Did everything the expensive rigs did. Things I will need to change: Better wheels/tyres more suited to the terrain I go out in which will be Scout ones as I have several in the spares box Faster motor. The stock one is ok, sort of a middle ground between the fast Wraiths and the scalers but I want speeeeeeeed! My own radio gear and a quickrun 1060 from the spares box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. If I have time I charge my 4.6amp NiMh’s at 0.1amp - takes a couple of days but the battery gains as close to full charge as you will get. In a rush then its 1amp charge rate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Lol, I converted my Outback to a 540 motor and Scout transmission about this time last year. tend to run that on 4.6 amp NiMh’s. Got one of those so I could build a Staghound armoured car. The Mauler is to compliment the SCX10/stop me breaking it doing stupid things Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Cheers. Have a couple of the little Outbacks so I know about the mediocre servo performance. I am going to keep it stock until after the weekend just for a modding frame of reference. Then its bits box time! Will be putting my own radio gear in (OEM stuff then goes in the emergency spares box) plus a Quickrun 1060 I have spare. Probably the motor too but I seem to be chewing through those at the moment on the FTX and SCX10 - I tend to play in water an awful lot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Just picked one up today and will be trying it out this weekend. Got it as ‘the one to try to break’ rather than keep trashing my SCX10 and Outback. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Picking one up tonight and will be out with it on Sunday for a full test Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Had a Scout and they are the one to go for. Mine got most of the parts switched to Axial bits as they came up cheap on eBay, then converted from Crawler to scale. Though I moved over to a SCX10, I still think the Scout is the best entry one and use them as a source of cheap spares. I also have an HG P601. Not as bad as people think though they need modding and the 4x4 one is better(it at least turns), I have found the axles/drive train a weak point if you are hard on them. Changing mine over to Scout axles. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  10. Went out with a few others with our Rock Crawlers in soggy Hampshire

    Weather

Today's weather, wet with occasional out breaks of heavy wet and maybe the slightest hit of non wet for some people. Today's meet should be fun for those going by car as at least you will be non wet for a bit unlike me who will be on the motorbike.
  12. Here is the new she'll for my Scout . Not as well finished as yours but it will do while I build the new chassis
  13. Last nights tally of what I broke on the Maverick Strada increased - three bent shocks. Today though was quite at work(again) so I made a couple of heavy duty servo mounts for the scout.
  14. Not sure.my mate has a scout and I have the monster truck Strada. His scout is way too slow for the joys of bashing. Mind you, I did break the Strada so it is now being converted to a crawler - getting 4 feet of air then using a park bench to stop does that. But it looked awesome:)
  15. ok my Maverick Strada MTB down to Canoe Lake in Portmouth where I normally race my RC sailing yacht after work and had a bash with a mate in the kids adventure playground as the drizzle would keep the kids away . What a giggle! Several berms and lumps got the cars airborne and there is a water feature thing which makes an eccelent skid pan. Pity it's normally full of kids
