  1. Thanks chaps, I've had a look and ordered the OB1 one, good reviews and price, jobs a goodun!
  2. I've got two yokomo shells with the light buckets, a laurel 35 and an rx7 samurai and am after a few light kits to fit to them. Ideally I'd like to plug them into the receiver but would be ok with a set running off separate batteries. I see a lot of 3mm and 5mm sets about, some mixed. I was originally looking for a tetsujin kit but they've sold out unfortunately. What's you're views on which to go for and has anyone got some good links to sets?
  3. Yes, it would work together, I would opt for more channels in order to use FPV gear though, i.e. A 6 channel tx as a minimum. Would recommend a 'full naze 32' if you want GPS etc. They are ready to fly pretty much out of the box and there are plenty of vids on you tube to see how they work. Think they are
  4. Yes indeedy, excellent choice and its looking good! I'm just waiting on the motor now. I painted and did the decals on the the body yesterday so it's coming together. Ill post up some pics when the motor arrives. What electrics are you putting in?
  5. I'm new too, so I started to look at what a lot of people were doing. I opted for the xxx-d pro ht rear motor in the end. Besides, I liked the idea of shaft drive over belt (not that I have an idea of what I'm on about yet mind!). The way I see it is that both the xxx-d and the ms-01d are great options, probably best to have a go with both of them to see which you prefer though. Talking to James down at soulrc, he recommended me the rear motor option in the xxx-d, if that's what I was going for as he said more people go for that.
  6. Hi mate, not sure what the DiB is but the Tao brain is a wireless card for inputting settings to the esc. Basically bluetooths the settings across without requiring plugging in. Have a look on banzaihobby, it's listed under the Tao 2
  7. Some goodies have landed at last. It took a few weeks to get it but the chassis has arrived now, good old royal mail. So far, I've got the chassis, the esc and the servo sitting here. As I'd made what I'd say is a good saving, i bought the ali uprights front and rear, the carbon battery holder-strap-thingy and got stronger spur gear bits after speaking with James and Mitto. They said to stick with the standard cs it comes with for now as I'm new to it all. I've got the motor on pre order and have just nailed the plastic and got myself a Sanwa with the rx-471, again because I'd made a decent saving on the chassis, and am waiting for it to arrive. When my mate said he'd never used the chassis I didn't realise he'd never even opened any of the numbered parts bags with the exception of the instruction manual. Bargain at
  8. Very cool mate, got a bit of wobble on-screen when you boot it. Just a bit of prop balancing to get a really clear video without investing in a gimball. It'll stop vibrations running through it too which is good for electrics etc. There are videos on how to do balancing but basically balance the blade first with snips of tape and then the hub of the prop with something like mitre-mate available from screwfix. Easy to do. You won't be disappointed with your copter, I love mine, just wish my battery setup was a bit better but ill get round to that at some point
  9. Sounds good mate, you'll enjoy it. Mines a doddle to fly. Balance the props right and you'll get good footage off it too, my go pro works a treat on it without a gimball

Cheers mate, i managed to get an xxx-d pro ht chassis and some parts already
  11. I'm looking forward to getting up and running, just getting the cash together for the rest of the bits now. Ill keep my eye out for you when I go there next and introduce myself, cheers for your advice!
  12. Good advice and ill take it. You've just saved me a bomb, ta muchly!! So far I've bought and am just waiting for it to arrive an xxx-d pro ht (bit of a bargain off a mate who'd never even built it up, its currently floating somewhere within our mail system), a pearl black keyence tachyon airia ESC, OMG digital low profile brushless servo and the Acuvance luxon dual BS brushless motor (10.5). Thought I may as well start with some good stuff. Next purchase is the tx/rx setup and am looking to go for the mt4/rx471 and a decent lipo battery. Then a shell and tonnes of practice (read; leaning on everyone I can for tips!!) To be honest it was that particular shell I was interested in, how would you rate the Yokomo shells? There's one or two of them that I like too
  13. Cheers Teshi, ive not looked there but i will now. The Tao 2 idea was totally sold to me after James at soulrc showed me it working on his. Im just starting out but am a total gadget freak so im sure i wont be able to resist it for long.
  14. I've got the x666 version, which is just a tad wider but ultimately the same. It's a pretty decent frame mate. Get lots of spare bits for the landing gear/frame in Maplins. I've got Naza gear on mine and its dead stable in the air. It depends what you have on it really. The majority of mine is turnigy stuff which works fine. I've got carbon props but the plastic ones are cheap and good enough. Fastladperformance up north is great if you need any help/advice
