Hi all, my name is Tom and i have recently got back into large scale petrol rc racing. I raced a good few years back in the onroad BRCA and TOPSA championships initally with a FG with KPD upgrades then a Lauterbacher. Unfortunatly then life and work got in the way so fast forward 6 or so years and i know have a little more time and funds so i can now finally get back to racing.
I decided about 6 months ago that i would get into large scale off road rather than on road this time and i have via some friends and people i used to know from the sport got a car together.
The point of this thread which i hope will be an interesting read for you guys is to follow the testing and maybe a few rounds of the Nene Valley winter series as i get the car and myself ready to enter the nationals next year. I will regulatly update the thread with an mods i do to the car and of course with the race results and a small meeting summary for each round of the championship i enter.
The car itself is also quiet interesting, back when i raced on road i used to use quite afew bits designed and built myself these included chassis plates, diffs and damper internals. I will be doing the same kind of things with my current car. Basically it is a MCD Ultimate with some V4 EC 2012 parts and some of my own bits too. The rough spec is as follows,
MCD Ultimate base car
Elcon Im4pact damper bodies front and rear with my shock rods, pistons and seals
V4 EC 2012 front and rear hubs + steering system
My design chassis plate
Rhino Digi 4 Servos
Oddified ECU with latest software
Oddified clutch
Oddified brakes
Just waiting for a latest spec 29cc Oddified black series engine to be built and dyno tested by Ian
VRC Pro pipe, ceramic coated
Front and rear diffs with modified internals by myself and a solid center diff.
Sanwa stick radio (i have never got on with wheel radios!)
G Revo designed body shell
BRCA legal rear wing
I will get together some pics as soon as i can, likely next week and definitly include some of the new engine when it arrives, again likely next week.
Well sorry about the length of that post! I hope you guys find this thread an interesting read. An one final thing, its great to be back!
Have a great day
Tom
