  1. Couldn't resist a quick back yard run earlier. Sadly, the chevrons were useless! Left out to melt in the garage... Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  2. I'd say 170 will only fit with modification. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  3. Will these fit a slash 2wd or stampede battery tray,? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  4. Looking for a cheap 2wd Slash roller or nearly-complete chassis for my son to use at the skate park. I have a spare ESC, motor and RX but no servo. Wheels/tyres not essential either. Alternatively if a Slash 4x4 is available at the right price I'm interested, he can then use my 2wd.
  5. Zannu was selling one a few days ago. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  6. Just to add some perspective here, I agree the Traxxas prices are salty, however I'm of the opinion that it all comes down to parts support. I've never had any problem getting parts for any Traxxas. Some occasional issues with HPI (and I prefer the way HPI are built, for what its worth). I would be more concerned going further off-piste though. Back in December I bought a secondhand 2wd Slash for £70 on this forum . Cost another £12 for a full set of bearings, and some enjoyable bench time doing a complete rebuild on it. I then junked the brushed motor and stuck a £50 trackstar brushless combo in it. Now it's fast enough for bashing and plenty of fun, plus it's reliable. I dont need to worry about it skidding 40 feet on the body shell, unlike if I bought a new one. So far it's broken just one part (bearing carrier) despite my 7yo son driving it and planting it into various obstacles at 30mph. What gets broke will be replaced with RPM equivalent. Total cost for a 2wd brushless around £130. Granted, buying s/h from ebay would be much more of a lottery. I see similar RCs going for this type of money on here though and would not hesitate if I was in the market. Parts support is everything in my book.
  7. Thanks. I actually bought and fitted a new shaft so I do have a spare. That pin is usually broken as a result of tightening the slipper too much. On my last slash I did just that and replaced the pin with a piece of drill bit steel which was fine, the original pin being hollow. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

    Slash 4x4 RTR

    Interested if still available.
  9. I have one, wasn't planning on parting with it. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  10. My interest in RC was sparked when, as a child of the 70's/80's there was a lad at the top of our street a few years older that had an original Wild Willy. It was so much better than anything radio controlled I'd ever seen, and being a Tamiya it had a touch of the exotic about it too. Tamiya were the real deal. Fast forward to the late 90's and my first actual RC was a Tamiya - a Fighter RX buggy to be precise. Loved building it, always felt it could be faster though and it was very particular about what surface you could use it on. I then got into 'proper' RCs in the last 6 years with a few SCTs, HPI Savage etc. Bought a Lunchbox kit to build and loved it, that old tamiya magic was still there. Definitely crude and a world apart from todays RTRs but when it was built it was so much fun. A tamiya seems to work best with the sport tuned motor and 2S lipo. The Lunchie handles that really badly which is perfect, it doesn't break but just wheelies and tumbles everywhere. The kids treat it like a pet. Lately I've really fancied going back to where it started and getting myself a Wild Willy 2 kit. Tamiya's definitely have character and are more than the sum of their parts.
  11. Bearings now in and there's still play. Bearing recess doesn't seem oval or distorted in any way so the finger is pointing towards wear on the shaft itself. Got another shaft coming so that coupled with new bearings should sort the issue. Gearbox and the RC generally needed bearings anyway so it's all worthwhile and it will be better able to handle brushless, perhaps even 3s.
  12. Thanks for the link. I'll take a look. First item (other thread) seems to be to replace all the bearings, I did notice two of the wheel bearings had seen better days but on stripping the gearbox last night it seems there's a fair bit of play on the spur shaft bearing so I've ordered a complete set. I'm hoping to get a brushless combo next month so I'll see how money's going and if I can stretch to the EZRUN...
  13. Here's my daily driver, 4.2 supercharged v8 Not quite an M5 but it'll do for me and is lovely to drive.
