  1. Finally got my CW-01 Unimog finished. Well, the lights still need wiring in and the driver needs painting. Here it is with my original '89 Pumpkin and the Fuzzbox I built a couple of years ago.
  2. My unrestored Midnight Pumpkin that I built in 1989 (still runs fine) with my new Lowride Pumpkin.
  3. Got bored of seeing my abandoned Lowride Pumpkin build cluttering up the garage, so threw it all together.
  4. I parked my build 'cos it wasn't really doing it for me. I knew what I wanted it to look like in my head, but I couldn't seem to make it happen. I wanted wide wheels that stick out past the arches, but struggled to find any with suitable offset. HPI Vintage wheels look great but i couldn't get it to sit right on those. Bored of just tripping over it all, I finally threw it together this week. Still not quite what I was after, but not far off. Cheap BBS-style drift wheels/tyres, hop-up rear uprights to correct the ridiculous toe-in, wider hexes on the back and thin spacers on the front, and rear springs swapped for longer silver ones. Body has had the roll-bar mounts removed, extra holes filled, the front arch corners shaved slightly and a wooden bed added. It's got the proper FORD tailgate and V8 grille from my original 1989 MP spares, and Shapeways 3D-printed taillights. It still needs a few details sorting but it'll do for now.
  5. Old thread I know, but I finally started my Lowride Pumpkin. I already knew the kit wheels were horrible (they'll change before I go any further) but I was, erm, shocked to discover how cheap the kit shocks are.
  6. Wasn't that implied by the section he posted in ? 'Just Kits' at the bottom of Hessle Road offer an inspection/repair service, even if you didn't buy your car from them. Don't know how good or pricey it is though.
  7. Sorry Tim, I bought the Wheelie one, and the 'mog shell is still awaiting paint. In the short term I put a Lunchbox shell on it ( See Here ). I'm now tempted by one of the other chassis though.
  8. As another Tim with a weakness for Unimogs I thought I'd point out that Tamiya made both a CR-01 Unimog kit (you specified "crawler" in your original post) and a CC-01 one (as shown in John's pic). Very different. Plus a CW-01 Wheelie one too. And both 406 and 425 bodies. Looks like you're going down a different path anyway, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
  9. So, 26 years after I first built a Pumpkin (which I've still got), I've finally got a Lunchbox. Well, it's a Unimog CW-01 kit, but for now it's wearing a Lunchbox shell. I built this 'Fuzzbox' yesterday. Bearings all round, SportTuned motor, Fastrak oil-damped shocks and ProLine tyre foams. 12 LED's plus the roof bar. 5th shock and FX-10 mods still to come, plus remote light switching via Ch.3.
  10. Certainly will - every time you post a pic of your truck online, someone's gonna point it out.
  11. Great stuff. Lunchbox lends itself to all sorts of cool themes. Just finishing mine off now, will post pics when it's finished.
  12. Yeah, there was a chrome sprue for the bumpers, grille and spotlights, and a white one for the mirrors, numberplates and the internal bumper mounts. That roof is the reason why the shell's still not been painted, I don't know where to start...
  13. I wanted a Monte Carlo kit so I could make a replica of our 1:1 Cooper. Couldn't find one at the time, so ended up with the Racing Mini kit instead, where the grille is moulded in and there are no bumpers. Doesn't look right though so I subsequently bought the various trim parts from the Monte Carlo kit and made them fit. Maybe not good enough for a purist but they'll do for me. And yes, it still needs painting...
  14. Good to see that you can easily make it look right. That pre-production photo put an awful lot of people off buying one.
