  1. Hi there, I would assume an 11.1v would do as most i think will take upto 12v. is there a reason you want to go lipo? i only ask as it can be a chore, first i think you may have to mod the tx unless the it already has a lipo connector second you will want a voltage detector or cut off thingy to make sure it doesn't discharge to far, if you leave it on by accident you will kill it. personally i would go for high rated mah nimh or even eneloop cells which have next to no self discharge and can be charged with a nimh charger. you could even get a tx charger so you plug it directly into the tx to charge cheers Ryan
  2. is it safe for me to make a connection to connect two 7.2v nicd batteries together in series to get 14.4v? its for my twin motor stater box. I kind of know how to make it, just want to make sure its safe to do with NiCds. Thanks Ryan
  3. just for the record it will suit spektrum transmitters if swapped
  4. what an absolutely brilliant idea! i will go into the loft over the weekend and have a lookout
  5. I'm sure it's 4mm dude, are you upgrading it
  6. yea unfortunately these are like trying to give a video player to someone who has a dvd player. doubt you could even give them away. put them in a box and stick em in the attic
  7. wow and the kid next door was spoiled?? For my 17th I had a pair of Hi Tec atlanta trainers
  8. Mmm, I'm not sure what to say really, if it were me as a precaution i think i would be replacing it anyway as the antenna can be very temperamental on 2.4ghz. if you don't mind tinkering its quite simple, its a 2 core cable with just a couple of dabs of solder, maybe you have an old receiver you can tax one from. I know the if the cable is even slightly shorter that it should be it can cause assorts of weird happenings maybe its me being over the top but thats what i would do. Just out of curiosity what did you pay for the receiver?
  9. hi there, i would say there is a fault as you say throttle works fine, and the steering servo works fine with another receiver. Are the pins all ok? none of them bent, is the futaba plug making correct contact? lastly is the antenna wire ok with no breaks cuts or anything like that? what voltage battery are you using? 4.8 / 6.0 just make sure all of you batteries are performing correctly
  10. Thats frikkin awesome dude!! my gramps sand scorcher (which has been passed down to me ) is where it all started for me, I'm in the process of doing a full restore as when he gave it to me in 1989ish i thrashed the living s**t out of it and have been riddled with guilt ever since as he really looked after it. I want to surprise him with it on his next birthday and take him out for a spin. Ahh the days of 3.5 minute runs followed by a 24 hour recharge i think i will document the build and post some pics. Peace out!
  11. Hi there, this is my first post here so hello all at model sport uk. I have been reading posts for a while now and find them very informative, however I have never been able to find a definitive answer to my next question. I have a dx3r that I have upgraded to use 5 X 1.2 NiMh rechargeable cells that equate to 6.0v. Although its no problem to remove the cells and charge them externally, I have an Ansmann multi charger (rx, tx, glow stick) that charges up to 9.6v tx batteries that I would like to utilise. My only issue is that the Spektrum dx3r charge port is centre pin negative (very annoying). Now the tx end on the charger is removable, does this mean if I take it off and turn it around it will charge the dx3r? Or will i damage it? I had no instructions with the charger so I don't know wether the end is removable for this reason. Thanks in advance Ryan
  12. sorry to dredge up oldies but I'm from cindy town and looking for fellow bashers.
