  1. Do you mean the diff outdrives and where they eat themselves up causing chatter or do you mean internal?
  2. Looking at PC specialist I'd add in maybe these 2 but they're very much pushing it!? https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/fusion-studio-15/ (very high end of budget ie over original plan) https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/ionico-15/ (and this just seems too much personally but if its good spec wise with 16gb ram and 3060)
  3. Ok cheers all So yeah I'm going for a laptop just as I'd prefer the portability and being able to use for other things. Screen wise I didn't really want to dip below 15 but if a 14 is a good bet then why not, when doing anything requiring a big screen I have a 24 inch monitor here and docking station etc with work Both the CAD and video editing are only very light compared to say a CAD with hundreds of parts of a complex structure, but wouldn't want to be on the limit straight away. I looked at PC Specialist but then just wasn't sure on availability etc and maybe best to stick to something already combined? So Ryzen generally a better bet by itself over the Intels with included or basic graphics cards? I mean you can go down a serious rabbit hole comparing processors etc and test ratings for all sorts which I'm not too sure on. The only Ryzen was partly down to it being Huawei to combine with my phone with regards to infrastructure and screen looks to be best? Thanks for all the help so far guys appreciate it!
  4. Hi guys, So in the market for a new laptop after my current one is just not quick enough any more plus I thought why not treat myself since I got it back in 2016. Currently have a HP ENVY 15-ah151sa (AMD Quad-Core A10-8700P APU with Radeon R6 Graphics (1.8 GHz, 2 MB cache). So not quick by any means but has done the job. Having got a 3D printer recently I'm now using Fusion 360 on it and it just about copes when modelling but can completely freeze at some points only solved by an end task. Also greatly struggles with any footage above 1080p really so editing Session 5 videos from my quadcopter is rather laborious and often the same freezing issue. So I have done plenty of looking around and come to a budget of around 1k so a big upgrade on the price of currently but I know they go ridiculously beyond this point too. Shortlist is: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/dell-inspiron-15-5509-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i7-512-gb-ssd-black-10217070-pdt.html (separate graphics card better?) https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/laptops/inspiron-15-7000/spd/inspiron-15-7501-laptop/cn50110#features_section (can potentially get 15% off so brings it down, but is the higher price wort it actually) https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/asus-vivobook-s14-s435ea-14-laptop-intel-core-i7-512-gb-ssd-deep-green-10219113-pdt.html (looks good to me, lower price a plus) https://www.very.co.uk/asus-zenbook-14nbspux434fq-ai082t-laptop-14in-fhdnbspintel-core-i7nbsp16gb-ramnbsp512gb-ssdnbspmx350-graphicsnbspoptional-microsoftnbsp365-family-15-months-blue/1600567697.prd?sku=sku23331810&cm_mmc=google-_-PLA+-+Generic-_-All-_-PRODUCT_GROUP_p42046757430_&utm_campaign=Generic_Electricals+-+Generic+-+Laptops&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_term=PRODUCT_GROUP&campaigntype=shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjw6fCCBhBNEiwAem5SOybZW4GSeDRce2MIZfMNIqxl37mO7co1k2V05k9xddmr7EzhzZjnShoCV4wQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds (like the design etc although touch not essential, but not thunderbolt?) https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/huawei-matebook-14-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-512-gb-ssd-grey-10215083-pdt.html (have a huawei phone, seems good but no separate graphics, rogue screen of 3:2 would take getting used to) So basically long post but are there any to get rid of straight away, any similar to add? Fancy a fairly sleek design, gotta be relatively future proof and to be able to cope with the tasks I'm doing at the moment and slim chance maybe a slight progression CAD wise from basic 3D printed models. Thanks for any help guys 😀
  5. Well I imagine this would be a place where you'd have to look into quad tech, so something like a runcam split I think they're called which can do the fpv and record, then you'd need a vtx and then goggles/screen with a video receiver. Like I imagine price wise two of those three parts are cheap it's just the goggles side of things where its costly... I have been tempted just to sit my drone on top of my car before to try it out 🤔but could end badly
  6. Helion also, mentioned in a thread somewhere on here https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?url=https://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/topic/242344-this-is-why/&share_tid=242344&share_fid=4338&share_type=t&link_source=app Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  7. Sadly this is where I can provide no more input [emoji28][emoji28] but [emoji1696]someone with knowledge will be along soon Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  8. I know this isn't helpful in regards to the 3d printing topic of the title but what is the model as someone may know of other brands compatible parts maybe? Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  9. The issue with the nitrotek kits however is the quality, having had the condor before the engine wasn't particularly reliable or easy to tune, the diffs very much struggled when the engine actually was running which led to decent expenditure with steel gears all round and by that point the engine then wasn't working again However I'm sure there are people who do well with them and find them reliable but for myself with it as a first nitro car not knowing how to tune so learning gradually it was not ideal Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  10. Got them from sri HELION HLNA0356 Criterion Spur Gear, 84T 48-Pitch HELION HLNA0355 Criterion Spur Gear, 81T 48-Pitch HELION HLNA0345 Criterion Spur Gear, 78T 48-Pitch Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  11. I reckon it could be a thing yes, they do look identical! Although I'm hoping that with the hardened diffs all round now that won't be an issue [emoji16] I mean I thought it had them already until I saw the powder filled diff case, lasted very well considering Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  12. I would suggest that it would probably be better for you to keep it 1/8 electronics as you'll probably be over working the 1/10 stuff and lead to more failures, even if not straight away Also just thinking about compatibility with your current batteries etc, plus the longevity in terms of when he gets used to it and wants to speed up you would then need to porches the 1/8 electronics Think it's been discussed in a few threads by others who've had the same sort of start out dilemma and generally the consensus seems to be you could use throttle endpoints depending on your transmitter, or you could even do something like foam under the trigger for example to minimise the range of movement to manually limit the speed Fingers crossed you can get him hooked [emoji16] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  13. I guess for a lot it also can bring back more of the fun of tinkering and just seeing what will fit with the means you have, refreshing that it's not necessarily just bodging [emoji16] Experienced this recently, trying to find hpi parts for an e firestorm and trophy buggy are becoming harder with lots having the trophy diff internals on 'back order' etc Luckily managed to find them however old style e firestorm spur gears has always been fun and they do like to break... the last 3 I had used were ecx spurs I believe from a ruckus that just required the corresponding slipper pads to work fine This time however I struggled to even get those very easily/cheaply so looked around and found Helion spurs with a very similar internal diameter and actually a few more different teeth counts. So got hold of them for only 2.25 a piece and the embossing for slipper pad location is identical to the old hpi spurs, all that was required was taking the internal diameter up very slightly and they fit perfectly [emoji108] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  14. Quick one and probably already checked, but have had it before with an esc is the throttle trim centred or has it been moved causing the esc to think its already in reverse or forward slightly and so not arming when you first turn it on? Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  15. I previously bought a few ecx spur gears, maybe the ruckus or something similar can't remember but they fit the fs, if you can get the slipper pads/plates for the same spur then that helps but if I'm honest mines pretty much locked so not too much of an issue Iirc ECX 1:10 Stadium Truck Spur Gear - 87T PART NUMBER: ECX1076 But check I think Rest of the stuff I can't really help, haven't changed mine in a long while but maybe ebay could have some Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
