1. for yall having wind in the mic problems thers a little trick you can use . first of you want a piece of fur you will sew this into a little mic hood and have it over the mic shoved into your helmet , what you also have to do is NOT have the mic near the front of the chin bar , most helmets have vents here and the wind can seep through at higher speeds a good place to have it is mounted on the side of the chinbar and close to your cheek this will help alot, another added measure is using a chin curtain this will help stop wind curling up into the helment from the chin area and under the chin bar of the helmet . you will need to just do plenty of test videos and play them back each time tweeking where the mic is placed untill you get a decent sweet spot oh and i ride with a scorpion ADX 1
  2. Yes @fnknan i stream eve online been streaming since 2017 so its been tough , i dont make any money from it but enjoy it as a hobby kinda fun and most followers come back , had so really large raids to upward 1000 people watching. Hope yall are good and well and coping with the lockdown , good thing is you can drive the RC's from the window and still ahve fun not breaking the lockdown rules
  3. Assetto corsa is my fix , usually racing ferrari 458 GT2 i run a janky old logitech DFP ( driving force pro ) this is my first run out 3yrs ago , just turned on the pc loaded up the game and recorded my first lap , cold tyres full tank of gas and well a little to hot into corners. but not a bad lap time
  4. Well hello everyone been a good while tony sent me a message so i thought i would pop by say hello well life has kinda been a lot of down hill rides lately , the old Heart is still ticking slowly and i am somewhat in control of the medication and healthy eating, BUT in very late 2019 a trip to the docs then a CT scan and some breathing tests , i got diagnosed with stage 3 lung disease , lungs dont function to well and have the age of a 79yr old , but i am stlil alive and kicking. I have given up RC fully and am now a twitch streamer with over 2,700 followers streaming a internet MMORPG spaceship game, i do it just for fun dont make any money at all. Upgrade my PC to a ryzen 5 3600X with 16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram , a 2tb samsung SSD and a nvidia GTX 1660 6GB graphics card. I also got into roleplay and now roleplay on a dayz server . I still have the scooter BUT i upgraded i now ride a Vespa not that little black tiawaniese model , got caught speeding and had to sit a speed awareness course that cost me £99 quid and a day of my time all because i was bullied into speeding by an irate taxi driver that didnt like a vepsa holding him up . Hope all you oldies are well , and still racing/flying the old machines , i still have all my drones and my IFX ultra 4x4 but alas the old fingers cant handle the sticks no more lost a lot of tactile feeling and i dont feel safe flying the drones, and drive the truck means my hands get cold very quick, i have been keeping up with some of the rc scene , that 4stroke v4 nitro engine looks crazy i have to say . anyways hope yall doing well amidst this virus outbreak, i have been in lockdown since it started and cant go out and mingle until atleast 1st august ( but shhhhh i do break the rules just a little gotat ride that vespa and keep the battery topped up )
  5. Woke up to this weird looking white stuff falling out of the sky , its highly annoying as i not long cleaned my scoot ............ Oh wait just been informed it is that rare stuff called snow that can sometimes fall in east anglia lol . annoying point is , 12" wheels on slippery snowed roads aint a nice feeling , worse when your still breaking in a full set of new tyres
  6. Well old pippa the skipper has been given some new second hand parts variator was so far gone the roller ramp walls had worn so fine the rollers had cracked them and started to jam up leaving the variator belt riding a bit to high. so a replacement second hand one was sourced, payment at £15 passed hands and i got a next to new variator. went to the bike shop and had a new set of boots fitted to, went with the Avon Viper strykers , been so used to riding with the old miss matched rubber that these ones fell very weird , front end feels more heavy . well as bike was getting new boots and i piked it up i got told i need a new variator side case due to this one being degraded and split.... bit weird it was not split when i dropped scoot off, but again another trip to breakers yard and another £15 lighter in the pocket i had a Non kickstart sidecase for the somewhat decent leader motor i have . it was then the breakers yard owner noticed something highly dangerous , when the mech done the front tyre he must have forgot to do up the axle nut ...... yep the whole axle nut was hanging by a thread it had backed its way off the axle bolt fully and was close to falling away. this was very lucky as a few miles down the road i could have lost the whole front wheel once the axle bolt had worked its way free. but anyways pippas done and dusted , the weather here has changed so much to, its super cold and darn wet most of the time so me and the scoot are just waiting out the winter months now.
  7. Hello TC,

I hope you don't mind me bothering you like this.

I couldn't help noticing as I trawled through some posts from a few months ago that you have an astonishing knowledge of scooter carburettors.

So I'm wondering if you might be able to offer some insight on a small problem I have with my scooter?

It's a Piaggo Sfera 125 RST from about 1996. It has the pre-leader engine with a Mikuni BS24 carburettor. Now, it doesn't enjoy starting from cold unless I twist the throttle a bit, then release it before pressing the starter. It fires straight away if I do this. This is fine by me, but after a little bit of a ride, or even a long one, if it's left switched off for a few minutes for something like going into a shop it takes quite a few turns on the starter to get going, and then it stutters and judders and won't produce full power for a couple of hundred metres in a very embarrassing and slightly irritating manner, which is exaggerated when you have a queue of impatient cars 2 inches from the tiny rear wheel!

It has defied my efforts so far- the spark plug is new, the air filter clean, the valves set correctly, the fuel tank cleaned out, the carb cleaned, a new tap and fuel lines fitted, the breather tube is clear and I'm all out of ideas!

It will 65 mph on a flat road if I duck down behind the screen and do everything else quickly enough, it's just this juddering thing now :ack:

    Thank you

    Nikki

hi nikki sorry i not been about much

first off, check your carb connection to the motors manifold, a slight air leak caused by perrished rubber hose/poor fitted clamp - no gasket can provide just enough extra air to cause starting problems . can be either end the airbox hose to carb join or the carb to motor manifold , usually these two places get overlooked.

if that does not help, try tweeking the idle screw slightly to bring up the resting idle, what this is doing is moving the throttle slide up slightly , when your cold start its like an added little extra air and fuel and can sometimes stop poor starting right from the bat. the other area is the coldstarter aka the auto choke, these can start to fail over time and leave the choke semi engaged so it acts up , or just does not open the choke when starting due to it failing.

If all else fails you could come and join The Scooter Shack forum, we have a whole forum of scooter tuners and motorcycle mechanics logging in that could offer other insights that could be the problem

heres a link to the shack if you wanna pop by and lurk /read up https://www.scootershack.co.uk/

Hi TC and thanks. I meant to send that as a PM but somehow clicked the wrong thing

I actually made some progress and discovered that the clircular clip on the needle was on the wrong notch. Also the mixture was causing the spark plug to blacken terribly in no time at all. So I've been slowly adjusting things as and when I have time for a test ride and a check afterwards. It has improved considerably already but I will check the connections you mentioned as well

      :first:

awesome news to hear Nikki .

a wrongly re-set needle clip can cause overfueling , if all the above was to fail my last place would ahve been a re-look at the carb and its slide needle settings just to be fully sure .

great to hear the sfera is back to being itself again, i just got new rubber on the piaggio skipper, went with avon viper strykers this time round .

      Ride safe <3

  8. Deadcat buddy : make a dead cat mic muffle , what i did was go to the range in norwich and into the ladys department . what your looking for are those fancy cheap ladys gloves , the ones that have those fluffy wrist cuffs on them , or wrist cuffs and/or a pompom keyring . now i went with the fur cuffs but they did not work to well so i grabbed a range faux fur keyring pom pom , cost me a quid, got it home and took a knife to it to deconstruct it and remove the faux fur , once i had that i could then fashion it into a kind of little mic glove , i sewed the pom pom in a way i could slip the mic into it and then ziptie it securly so it wouldnt fall off. the change in wind noise was very apparent from the start very little wind noise but voice came through perfect and not muffled, the dead cat pompom mod acts as a wind break deadening the wind traveling around and over the mic as the air is defused by the fur hair strands . fake fox fur pom pom link in range
  9. lol he beat me to it, usually we would just throw in a new autochoke, being cheap its a quick if it works its a bonus. if you then came back and said " well the new chokes in but it aint playing ball " , i would then be saying " when was your last valve check and setting done. if im right your little sfera has a MK1 leader engine same as my little pippa ( skipper st 125 4t) , a bloody good little motor if you ask me and also used in the vespa lx range to . I just replaced my front wheel speedo drive and cable , well the shop did , cost me £60 labour but the piaggio parts were the killer at just shy £60 inc shipping and a 14+ day import wait. my headstock keeps backing itself undone and then slapping when under braking , but they tweeked that while fitting new cable into dash, worse part is the flexi components board on back of the dash they known to get damp and rot out so im expecting the dash to just fail very soon and then its a massive tear down and rewire. If you ever need the wire schematic for you little sfera just holler i have the whole haynes manual for our scoots . its a worth while purchase
  10. auto choke ? sfera 125 i ahve the carb stats for that your mech will be able to find a mikuni auto choke heres the carb sats and the carb type so he knows sfera 125 mikuni BS24-1J pilot screw setting not available float hight 12.2mm starter jet 40 pilot jet 20 main jet 87.5 needle clip setting 4CZ6 ( 3rd notch down from top) also aj sutton pop in your reg number and it brings up the oem parts you should find the auto choke listed there https://www.ajsutton.co.uk/
  11. lol little brass thing with a hole in it aka the main jet ...... theres a little tip i can offer up here, grab a old bit of wire , strip back around 3 inch of the plastic covering and take a single thin strand from the twist , cut it of and use that to push through the jet hole , give it a good wiggle around as your push in through a few times ...... give the jet a rinse in carb cleaner - petrol then blow it out with a can of air ( can use a straw to blow through to ) , jobs done and its just installing it . when installing do not be cranking it down as tight as you can, just snug it down so it wont back itself out when installed on bike/scooter , if you go to far you can crack the main jet tube it fits into and then your paying for a new carb not a £2 jet
  12. Pippas back on the road again , £50 oem parts bill , then the £60 fitting fees , i just dont have a shed to afford to get a bike lift , and with just me i just dont have the manpower to lug around heavy scoots. BUT shes a runner ....... sold pedro in june to a young nipper, and this week i get a letter from DVLA " we are fining you £100 for no insurance on a*****o sym jet scooter " ......... i made the stupid misatke of giving the lad the V5 with all the other documents i had for pedro, i had hassled this kid for like three months to send off this darn V5 ...... " i have sent it off " " i forgot i will do it right now " i did send it off " and my reply was your a liar , two weeks for a new v5 to be issued its been 3 months and i have now been fined 100£ . well i took it to my own hands and informed dvla that i was no longer owner and it was sold in june, gave them the lads name and address . they dropped the fine from £100 to £50 but i still had to pay as usual dvla did not pull the finger out of the rear hole and messed around , sent the writen letetr on 12th they got it signed for on 13th and they changed ownership on 26th, they fined me on 22nd , sent letter on 25th and sent the your no longer owner proof on 26th . from now on ill will scrap every bike i own i will never fall for this dvla gov rubbish again , just a simple check with my insurance company would have shown the policy change on the 12th june when the bike was sold and i swapped to a 125 yet dvla cant even do that . need some new boots to the old rubber on scoot is getting to that wear point marker, so im looking at avon vypers or trying to source some defunct conti 360 move or conti twists , i want an all weather boot rather than these sporty things as i want to take some of the shorter green lane cuts and be able to handle the gravel beach paths and roads better . 28th we have the all hallows ride out so the old zebra will be making his apperance again for the second time running
  13. Speedo gave up the goat , just had to fork out £50 on OEM Vespa parts to fix the darn problem ....... i mean its not a problem to me speed is time devided by distance , if i get to the beach faster than normal i was speeding right ? or did the world slow down lol ....... dashboard lamps went to pitch black cant see anything on the dash so thats gotta be sorted to . so yeah anyhoooooo's , scoots semi parked up , i ride where i think there wont be any cops or speed cameras just the odd errands , worse part its a 8-14day special order in jobbie , so its 8-14 days for them to get parts then its the 3-5days slow mail to get it to me . why did i choose an itakian bloody bike is beyond me, but maybe they have the parts in france only time will tell
  14. no worrys just glad yoodoo is back on the road again. most folks stop at the carb thinking is like some techincal rocket science stuff , but one its explained how they are tweeked its a fairly simple affair. now if yoodoo would have taken it to a bike shop he could have well been looking at around a £50 bill for a hours labour. he fixed the problem in under an hour saved £50 and is proud his tinkering worked , and thats good enough for me
  15. Walcott Beach , scouting for fishing marks. today we headed upto the coastal road and walcott beach to look at the tide line and possible fishing area, at the same time we take a walk along the sea wall/beach road and encounter the local shop - cafe and chipshop. its a quaint little village not overstocked with holiday makers and kids running riot, so the beach is somewhat quiet to , its nothing like the major resorts of yarmouth - cromer and the likes but its nice and laid back propper norfolk as i like to think of it. Enjoy and comment if you want, i am looking at doing a few more coastal visit vlogs for folks hey maybe members will want to come take short breaks on our lovely coast lines
