I just got a brand new mini-t pro and i absolutely love this truck it's perfect for something i had in mind, but i'm new to 1:18 scale, new to brushless, and new to lithium batteries in RC. It isn't for racing although i've got my eye on a LWB conversion and a touring car shell that i think fits - and the 12mm hex adaptors to fit 1:10 TC wheels which aren't much bigger than the stock wheel/tyre, might see if i can get into a local club's 2wd tc races, which would be on carpet/polished, varnish wood floor. Back in the day we used to use schumacher yellow minispikes on that surface.

I'm picking a motor/esc combo out of the eZrun packages, and i'm torn between the 7800kv or the 5200kv. Also, i can't work out where i need to start looking when it comes to gear ratios - I've heard that losi's pinions aren't very good and cause undue noise and was recommended an xray m18 pinion (hard to find) or an asso RC18 pinion.

I want it to be fast, but not insanely fast. My cells are LiFePO4 3.3v/cell. They can provide 33a constant current 55a burst which is more than the ESC can handle so punch should be good. I'm thinking i should run the 5200 with 3s LiFePO4 for bashing, might have to be the 7800/2s for racing as i'm pretty certain the club will allow 6s NiMH or 2s Lixxx only... if i understand things right that second setup will give me less torque and runtime but the same motor rpm

seem to be able to get 12 to 15t RC18 pinions and 59-60-61t mini-t spurs.. this should give me a fairly wide ratio range... but where do i start? initially only thinking about the ratio for 3s/5200 as that's my priority basher... but i might get another one or convert this one later for the 2s/7800kv race config.. or buy a different motor for racing like a 6000kv orion vortex... help lol

edit: if there's a gearing option that would allow the 5200 to be fast on 2s for off road type bash i'd like that
