FTX Colossus 1/8th Brushless Lipo Powered Truck

Get ready for some radical weekend bashing with the Colossus electric 1/8th monster truck. The super fast Colossus uses twin 2S 3200mAh lipo batteries and an 80amp brushless motor system to deliver amazing speed and acceleration. We dare you not to smile when you hit the throttle with the Colossus. Our only recommendation is that you use it in sufficient open space, because you will need it!

Posted Image

With battery mounts on left and right for perfect weight distribution, wide truck tyres and low mounted bodyshell add to the Colossus' speed styling and help keep it planted to the ground whenever possible....add further grin factor with the optional bolt on wheelie bar for the rear. Including a 2.4ghz radio system and an Etronix 9kg rated all metal gear servo to look after the steering, the Colossus represents amazing value for those looking for a 1/8th sized electric model. A three differential, shaft drive transmission transmits the power through front and rear universal CVA driveshafts.

Furthermore if you own other models in the FTX stable then many suspension and chassis parts can cross over, reducing the need to carry many spares. Go green, be quiet and try out the exciting Colossus as the new alternative to nitro.

Meh, 80A esc is too little imo, especially when the truck is £300. The batteries C rating is too low as well, only 64A constant.

it also looks like a TOMY R/C, not sure it'll have a mass appeal, esp with the down falls that James has pointed out.

Its the truck version of the BSD buggy that Modelsport sold last year. Apart from the batteries it got some very good reviews.

That transmitter is the ugliest thing I've seen in a long time - proper bin fodder!

If they sold it closer to £250 then this would be a steal and an interesting alternative to other large trucks. The prices of MT seems to be on the up and hopefully this will introduce more people to it.

Granted the LiPos are only 3200MAh 2s 20c packs but it will get you going and puts the Traxxas effort of NiMHs in their packages to shame.

That thing is plastic fantastic! I don't really like the look of it either.. Eurgh..... :puke:

I think its a good job that the brushless combo isn't a meaty one, because the truck looks like it would break if it travelled at any speed! The plastics don't look very substantial in key areas (check out the shock towers, they look suspiciously like something from a cheap 1/8 leccy buggy) and I can't see bits like the upper arms taking much of a hard knock, again they're like something from a much smaller vehicle.

I'm all up for making R/Cs more accessible to people by lowering the entry level price, like FTX have done really well with the Punisher and some of their other great products, but I can't see this one working too well. I'd love to be proved wrong though! :)

I was unfortunate enough to have the BSD Land Ripper last year (buggy version of this truck) and apart from the batteries and esc that were actually pretty good quality, it was JUNK the plastics were not good enough and snapped all the time even when you hopped up, it still broke as its got some very bad build/design faults, if you notice m/sport quitely stopped selling it as even they admitted the chassis was very poor quality
