After Project Moggie (a Kamtec Morris Minor Traveller), I wanted something a bit more up to date. Everyone's crazy about Ken Block, so I wanted something that would mix him into an RC upon which you may not have seen many KB replicas before.

So, here's my plan.

1. Buy bits to make a Ken Block Gymkhana body.
2. Paint/Sticker.
3. ?????
4. WIN!

With that in mind, and keeping the ''RC you may not have seen many Ken Block replicas before'' in mind, I picked my Tamiya M05. An obvious choice would be a Mini Cooper body, but oh no, this is Garry, king of the ''WTF is that body and where did he get it????'' response!

So, snooping on the web resulted in this little lot dropping on my doorstep:

A box....

Yep, a Tamiya Mini-sized Skoda Fabia WRC body!

Add in some KB stickers and hopefully it'll look awesome when its done.

Just got to buy some fluorescent yellow paint and I'll get cracking.

Yep, its a Skoda. :D Its the only WRC-style body fits a Tamiya Mini, that looks Scooby(ish) and wasn't silly money. Ride do a hatchback Impreza for Minis, but thats £40 shipped from HK! Sack that, this cost $16 plus shipping. :)

Here: http://www.rcmart.co...l?cPath=438_874

Its super detailed, a 3pc mold body so its got undercuts etc.

Here's what it looks like all painted: http://rc-magic.com/...?branduid=41035

I didn't manage to finish it last weekend, I didn't even start it due to lack of time, but I had a free day today, so I cracked on and got it sorted. Oh yeah, the wheels are Much More Sweeps, they are nearly the same as the ones used on Ken Block's Subaru.

First job was to prepare it, wash then cut. Always in that order for me so I can mark post holes etc. I used a reamer and a pair of hobby curved scissors.

The body is a bit flush....

All masked up. No window masks because Ken's car has dark tints, so I thought I'd paint them black anyway.

My method is, a light coat, wave in the air for 30secs, light coat, wave 30secs etc etc. It means the body is done quicker without runs (lighter coats dry quick anyway, waving it around will make it even quicker. All the black was done in around 10 mins.

The finished article. Its not 100% the same because the decal sheet was 1/10th, the body 1/12th so some bits had to go (the 43 on the roof for example), but I'm happy enough. It looks decent and no-one's done a KB replica on the forum for a Tamiya Mini! :D
