Just been on my travels through one of the other forums I frequent from time to time and came across this,seems Proline are to introduce a new chassis option for the Baja,I have no details on price and when it will be available but i'll post any further devenopments I find,its rumoured that Proline are hoping to knock this out for $150-$200,thats cheaper than a stock HPI chassis for us guys in the UK....

For sure,it'll put a dent in the smaller mfrs of CF chassis profits,thats for sure,they'll either stop making em or lower the prices which would be hard,Proline are a massive company with their resources its feasable that these chassis will be that cheap,its them who say that they are looking at that kind of price....

With so many of us on the forum owning baja's would it not be a good idea to start doing group buys on things to get a discount on stuff? This happens a lot on car forums a frequent.

i have to say this isnt that new really

new from proline sure

but there has been carbon chassis avalible for a while

an i personally have seen one snap,at the nose,this happened at the first 'GAS BASH'
an happened beacuse of the reccess for the screw heads
milling the carbon down to quite thin,an weakening it there



i do know 'nubnuts creations are making one too,an that has button head screws to do away with weakening the carbon

but iam unsure what proline has done on this front

thing is we all won't want the same thing unless your all wanting ts reed case motors with ds 4 bolt topends, cf everything [except chassis, going scorpion lightweight on that one] brakes at each hub [ok so i think we all want that one], then a baja 5t conversion eh?

Fixings have always been a problem with fibre reinforced materials. Any disturbance of the underlying fibre reinforcement structure causes localised stress raisers. Also machined holes can introduce micro cracks which grow until the cause component failure.
- You can't just replicate a metallic component with fibre composite. The component needs to be designed as a fibre composite.

thing is, carbon scratches so easy and you see every little mark so not really the best for an offroad basher.
