[Rc-holic]

hi, just a newbie wanted to buy an electric truck don't know which one to buy? e-revo or e-savage? im not planning to race just a nice run and bash around fields and parks...read about kershaw is that a nice upgrade for motors...and don't wanna spend alot on a lipo's probably an 8.4v will do...
please advice...

e-revo hands down, the e-savage isnt as big as the others, and its just pants, i dont need to give an explanation as to why, its common knowledge/sense ha ha, i mean the revo is waterproof, and its a traxxas, the savage, is, well, yano........

You won't need to use LiPo batteries no.

I run a BL system, with 4600 9 Cell NiMh and its awesome.

Although LiPos give the best speed and runtimes, but if not looked after, they can explode.

Thats whats put me off.

And also, E Revo in my opinion is far superior to the Savage

My Girlfriend has an E-Savage, and i have an E-Maxx.

I would say E-Revo hands down.
There really is no comparason.
The E-Savage is smaller than its Traxxas counterparts, and has far more problems.
Even E-Savage & E-maxx, there in totally different lueges.

You don't need to run lipos with brushless,
Brushless tends to use alot of power very quickly. In the high power systems (1500w+) you will need to use lipos. But for park fun nimhs are the best. They don't need as much looking care (but still need some) and are relatively cheap to replace 1 cell if you pierce it etcetc.

And the revo wins hands down.

and as for what people are saying about lipos they really arnt that bad, its just the few idiots which give them a bad name
if you look after them and know what you are doing they are fine. i have seen atleast 3 nimh batteries go at my local track and no lipos yet

Lipos out perform nimhs
They cost more and need a little bit more care but are not dangerous at all.
Soon they will be cheap enough for the masses.

PS Try telling these guys that there is life without lipos.

You can't run 9 cell NiMh packs on the E-revo, the voltage is too low, but some good 4600mAh packs should last anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes dependant upon how you drive it.

Oh and as for LiPo's, I've seen 2 survive a fatal crash without venting, one at 103mph, and the other at 74mph which caused it to have a huge dent in it. I'm sure Turner boy has a pic of it somewhere.

I get around 20mins runtime from my 9cell pack in my VXL.

Lipos are recommended with the e-revo, and not all of them are really expensive. The only 'problem' is that there isn't really enough cooling for nimh batteries.
Someone did a review on some cheap ones off eBay in the reviews section of the forum and they'd be worth getting imo

anybody of you knows how good is the kershaw designs motors especially the 700HO? is that a good upgrade for the stock e-revo motor or just save your money for the BL one?

I was about to buy the new e-revo but still i need to learn alot from the expert like you guys especially with the batts if im gonna use the lipo ones...

i have heard very bad things about kershaw designs service (taking ages to post/make sometimes up to 4 or 5 months )
that was a while ago though dont know if they are any better now.
