Anyone any experience of the Dominator V2 exhaust?

I got the silenced one to go on my Baja today.

All went together fine but been out for a run and the back of the engine/rear plate is covered in exhaust muck.

The two halves just slot together and are held together with the usual spring, there is nothing else sealing the two halves and they only slot together by about 1inch.

Also I took the pipe off the engine and the gaskets look really messy, almost like there are coming apart.

They were new with the pipe.

I have ordered some new gaskets but wondered what else I might do to stop it "leaking"

Would it be a good idea to put some sealant on the gaskets and where the two halves slot together?

Fire putty local car parts shop, and try putting studs in the head and use 2 nuts to lock um tight, gaskets and some fire putty never leak again ;)

did you get a bit of silicone pipe to sleeve it with the exhaust?

I did get a piece of silicone pipe to sleeve it with and I put it on BUT it is a tight fit on the manifold end but not on the other, there is a small gap all the way around.

I put the jubilee clip on it to close it up but in doing so the flexibility between the manifold end and the pipe end was lost and the whole lot became rigid.

I am not entirely sure that is where the leak has come from through, given the mess on the rear backplate that is behind the joint I am more inclined to think it has come from the joint between the manifold and the engine itself and blown back onto the backplate.

So there should be a black o-ring seal that fits into the exhaust side that seals the manifold side when the 2 halves are joined together.  Apparently some customers were not happy with this so DDM introduced the silicone hose and jubilee clip fix.

Don't over tighten the jubilee clip or you'll have some more holes, use tie wraps there not going to cut into the pipe, and ill bet on it blowing out the silicone pipe, that'll seal its self after a bit if you've got a good seal around it, show us a picture of it from the top looking down on it ;)

Did it not come with DDM's no leak coupling?

Basically a coupling, a small piece of silicone hose & a jubilee clip.

Yes but when I put it on the whole set up was quite rigid.

I thought the idea of a two piece system was to give some flex?

Okay it wasn't rock solid but still pretty firm :)

Also with the hose on it was a tight fit on one end but there was a gap the other end, again the jubilee clip would close this gap but would make the whole system quite rigid again.

Now I know that is how it is supposed to be I will redo it when I get the new exhaust gaskets.

Arrggghhhh!

Got the new gaskets today and used some exhaust sealant to attach the manifold gaskets and bolted it onto the engine.

Put the silicone tube on and didn't have it in quite the right place, then I couldn't get the dam thing to move again!

I have now torn it trying to pull it off.

Had to order a couple of replacements now but obviously wont be here till mid next week now with the bank holidays.

this is the sort of hose you wont matey, when you said you'd ripped it, i can't believe they send you that sort of pipe for it, if you can rip this sort of pipe pulling at it ill buy it for ya lol! This sort of hose is reinforced and can take hot hot temperature

That's the same make pipe ive just used for a coupling on my Samba

Measure carefully and only go a mm or 2 smaller as it has pretty much zero give

It dosnt have give because it's water hose really, it's used for high power water pressure, or air, turbos and things like that, auto grade matey it will eat what you throw at it lol!

When you get it, like he said just go 1mm over the measurement of your pipe and warm it up, it helps stretch it over, boil the kettle and hold it in there for a few minutes and stretch it over , you'll get away with the same size iD as the OD of your pipe

hope this will sort it for ya and im sure to say it'll not leak again pal :)

Well I got fustrated trying to get it off and basically pulled a piece out of it.

By the time that happened I lost my rag and just kept yanking it till it was a mangeled mess :)

It was the correct type of pipe and I have the right sort of pipe coming to replace it.

Even so it does loose a fight with a pair of pliers when it pees you off!

nope wrong you need i think a 22mm - 19mm reducer if i remember correctly

???

The original piece I had had no reduction on it,it was just 22m all the way through.

Also I asked Freeprawn racing and they pointed me to that,it also says it is for the Dominator exhaust.

yea its too hard one side so when you put it on it cuts / deforms the rubber and leaks

you will see the difference pic of mine below

Yes I know the diameter will get smaller with the clamp on but the piece itself doesn't reduce from 22mm to 19mm without it.

no if i remember the stock dom rubber is 19mm and half the time when it is put on it splits
