Hackney borough absouluetly useless absoulutely useless

Was at hackney marshes today to have a bit of fun with my buggy and then about half an hour later two people approached me saying that you're not permitted to do rc here.

I said nonesense, wherein the council bylaw does it say you can't do RCS on this land?

They said that the residents complain from the noise. So I said get a sound decible measurer and see if I go beyond the noise limit then?

Plus I'm about 70 to 100 metres away from residents. This council is absouletly useless. I see people with dogs and beer cans and people doing BBQ on hackney marshes whilst they break law and me driving a nitro car is not allowed!!!!@@@

I told them we were here for 4 years + before those luxury apartments were built and council just watched us do our RCs!!!!!

Then they said im just being polite by not reporting you and letting u off, I said go ahead and report me then and I will challenge you guys. I'm really really vexed about this situation. We are genuinly good citizens that want to have some fun in our spare times and look at the treatment we get!!!

While I agree with you, it's best to keep calm and polite with these tools. If we collectively approach the authorities, we've a better chance of keeping our freedoms. Nitro and two stroke do pose a problem, they need an area that won't cause a nuisance, you need to be considerate when running those.

Time to go brushless :) see it they complain then ;)

I had one once about 5 years ago. It was 4 O'clock in afternoon and I was plying with my brushed Tamiya Madbull in the road, Very few people drove along it. She said "my baby is trying to sleep and all I can hear is your toy car". At this point I was about 15m from her house and she had all the windows shut, I think people just like spoiling our fun, if I was older I would have started to cut the grass to really wind her up or told her to sod off :xd:

My point is I've been driving my RCS away from those luxury apartments, I wasn't driving my RCS no way near those newly built apartments. If someone comes up to me and starts being annoying or rude or blackmail then they will get the same back from me. Simple as that.

I've driving my RCS even after the dispute but well away from them and the rangers were seeing me and today for some odd reason they change mind and decided that Im not allowed rcs at all on this massive massive land of the borough's

Before they use to tell us go drive it further down else where which fine. Did that today and they seem to change and told me that no nitro is allowed

To be fair, sometimes when you're trying to get a baby to sleep any noise will be enough to tip you off the deep end.  Try having sleep deprivation for a couple of months and see how you feel about other people making noise ... of course it's reasonable to be able to use an electric car by your home, but it's also reasonable for someone to ask you to stop if they have a good reason.

Like I said, I agree with you, if you're being considerate, then carry on!

Thanks I am going to carry on. The problem is the council they knew we where there from day one doing our rcs before the apartment even got built and never approached us until it was built and some one complained. There acting as two-faced peoples.

The apartment is on a main road. Even the cars and lorry's and busses make more noise than my nitro yet they (apartment) moan about our nitro rc cars. Its ridculious. I know for sure with nitro that when you drive it around the sound desipates as opposed to other noisey things. Plus we ain't driving them 10 or 11in the morning or after 6 in the afternoon. It was 3pm!! I will go today and have my fun there.

Given that I've heard of whole nitro clubs having to close after houses were built near a track that had been there for years I think you've lost here. Housing projects, especially luxury ones are very important to councils and they won't listen to anything that gets in the way of that. Add to that that RC's are hardly considered essential (its just a noisy toy!) and you'll get no sympathy from the council.

Nitro's aren't that loud true, but its an unusual sound which is more likely to get peoples attention. Traffic is something people get used to and quickly filter out. It may be louder but you very soon learn to barely notice it. Thats also how an electric can be annoying.

It sucks, its wrong but thats just how its going to play out. Best off looking for somewhere else to go.

Doesn't matter if you do own the land, noise complaints can still stop play. Harder to do but does happen. On council land it's easier just to ban than to deal with noise complaints any other way

This reminds me of the noise complaints they get at racetracks. I couldn't run my motorbike with it's standard exhaust at Castle Combe because it was too loud, yet I could drive to and from the track no problem. The track has been there far longer than the houses that surround it, they even held a couple of formula one races there many years ago. Rules is rules whether you like it or not and if they don't want you running your car there then you don't stand much chance. Time to find somewhere else to have your fun.

Also, I have two very young children who are a nightmare to get to sleep. Fortunately it's quiet where I live but if someone was keeping them awake I'd have no problem asking them to move on and i'd hope most people would be mature enough to do so.

Driving home unsilenced having removed the silencers necessary to meet the noise regs at Loton Park. Yes, it's poor quality but it was an old compact camera lol

The exhaust I ran on the road was louder than what I ran at the track, I have a decibel reading of 124db, lol. Castle Combe test at 3/4 rpm which was about 11,000 on the gsxr whereas most tracks only test at 5-6000. Most of the newer standard bikes fail it, it's a real PITA!

Where you run your car is a priviledge NOT a right.

You dont own the land that you run on,people seem to forget that.

Just cause it was accepted once doesn't mean that will always be the case.

Think before you talk smeghead

We've been allowed to do RCS further down on the land for ages but all of a sudden things have changed and cannot do rc anymore for some weird reason. The red dot is where we do it

Its easy for you to talk on the forum when your tottally unaware of the current situation and the environment around the marshes.

Im just trying the explain the difficulties we encounter as a good law abiding citizens trying the enjoy this very hobby just for a few hrs or less at once a week or 2 weeks

I don't understand why you say think before you talk. Whether you've previously been allowed to do it or not, it's still a privilege. We don't know the ins and outs of it, we can only judge the situation by what you've told us on the forum.

I don't fully agree, I don't see it as a privilege, we're tax payers and should be allowed to use the land we're paying for. Of course there has to be rules, otherwise it'd be chaos everywhere. I just don't agree with blanket bans unless there's good reason for a blanket ban. Restrictions on hours of use would be a more reasonable approach, can't see that happening.

This issue has been debated many times before .......... we even had a resident of said flats register on the forum (needless to say that got rather messy). This must be at least the third time this topic has arisen.

At the end of the day its public land and you should be pleased its just noise they are concerned about, because they could slap you with some kind of health and safety order for endangering the public If they really wanted.

You need to get in contact with the local council and see what can be done.

I can appreciate the frustration but arguing with other members will only see this thread being locked.

Why posts about it on a forum then?

Wouldn't a good 90%+ people be unaware of the situation as well, does that make them all unable to comment on it as well when they dont agree with your viewpoint?

You might be a tax payer etc but the land is still not yours to do with as you please even if you have in the past.
