Daveyb84
This is going to be my 1st proper build thread because I think this is the car I will end up making the most changes too. I have a few other cars but I'm going to concentrate on this one for now Had this a few days now and haven't had chance to play yet but I wanted to share it all with you. 119 from modelsport and what can I say apart from its amazing value for money really and another reason why I wanted to share it with you all. So unboxing the car. I love the fact this is what I'm greeted with when I opened the Vaterra box Further unwrapping. It's just so pretty The chassis itself. It feels really well built and looks robust. The shell details. Some really nice touches. The extra bits that come with it. The only think I'm not sure about is the DX2, it feels a bit plasticky in my hand. I have a DX3C for my Sakura and gt12 and that feels so much better but for an rtr handset I can't complain really. So there you go I'd highly recommend one really. Plans are to make it into a bit of a speed demon. 4t motor -on order 120a turbo esc - on order 2s Lipos - already have for my Sakura Alloy prop shaft - on order Alloy suspension mounts - on order Cvds Adjustable shocks - on order Noise box for a real v8 sound Slicks Maybe a gyro, not sure yet Hard compound slicks Whatever else takes my fancy or what else you guys can suggest I'm off to watch bullet now and see what driving scenes I can recreate with it. Daveyb84
This also impressed me, how little slop there is from the steering. I need to upgrade the steering servo any way so will make a proper effort to get rid of all the slop after I do that http://youtu.be/cN41AC3LdNs
capri-boy
Nice, enjoy. These things do look like a bit of a RTR bargain. On-road not really my thing but if they made a kit a la Tamiya I'd be all over one just to build and not run.
momo88
Looks awesome! Would you say it is decent as it is out of the box? I.e would a beginner enjoy it or would they beed the hop ups you mentioned?
The Dark Knight
Another on-road? You're some boy Davey These Vaterra's do look great, it's be a cool car to use for the Much More GP
capri-boy
Looks awesome! Would you say it is decent as it is out of the box? I.e would a beginner enjoy it or would they beed the hop ups you mentioned? From what I've seen there pretty capable out of the box, for a brushed system. If you want to put a fast brushless system in, like the OP, then upgrades are a necessity.

I haven't had chance to take it out due to being away with work and seeing the better half but I can take it out box standard when I have chance and give an opinion for you then Edit - infect there is one change I would make. The steering servo looks like it won't last 10 mins, it looks quite slow and weak. I will let you know for definite after I've taken it out though Edited March 7, 2015 by Daveyb84
Daveyb84
Another on-road? You're some boy Davey These Vaterra's do look great, it's be a cool car to use for the Much More GP Yeah another on road. 3rd 1/10 scale now to go with the gt12 and pan car. Oops. Off-road collection will be next. I really fancy one of those proline trucks and a crawler after that maybe. I will bring it to much more so you can have a go. Daveyb84
Had the Vaterra out today. Granted only on my drive but yeah the stock servo sucks massively. Also needs slicks and more speed. It's quick enough for a quick blast around but nothing to write home about. Can't wait to get the upgrades. Unfortunately no video because I can't film and drive. Hopefully get one next time before the upgrades go in. Run time was 11 mins on nimh power
The Dark Knight
The Core 1/10 servo is good for the money or you fancy splashing a bit more cash, the Savox 1252.

The Dark Knight
I keep looking at this, it's such a good looking car, makes me wish everyone had to use more detailed bodies like this to race with instead of the usual jelly moulds. In the class I race in, the body shell rule is relaxed so I'll be running something more realistic this year.
