Storing your 1/5th scale

Just got in from work and my kitchen stinks of petrol from my KM Baja.... the Mrs isn't back as I type this but I can say pretty confidently she'll moan and say something about it when she gets in.

My question how and where do you guys store your 1/5th scales?

Is there anything I can do to minimise the petrol fumes?

Also not related but when running these do you allow the tank to run dry or manually cut it out before that happens? I don't want any engine problems with it running lean before it runs out of fuel.

Thanks in advance

Drop it to mine  :whistling:

Ps: Dry store it in the shed or garage, and keep it covered with a sheet or something. Store with no fuel either else the tank turns a dark yellow colour overtime from stains. Oh and it might be worth putting it onto a stand to keep the wheels off the ground ( to avoid flat spots) .. :good:

I have to use my spare room at the moment and have similar discussions with my other half.  She's content at the moment that I managed to get the oil stains out of the carpet but I think the smell of petrol will eventually overpower the carpet cleaner smell and I'll be looking for somewhere else to store it.

Mine never smells of petrol, mines in the living room, I De- fuel it every time I come back I never drain the carb out dry though because you need some petrol and oil to get to your piston and barrel

my mate ran his out of fuel the last time out with it, he dryer it of fuel, he was pulling on the pull start every time his friends come round, showing it off like,

I went round to repear it about 4 days after this time and did a few bits and bobs to it,

after that I put it all back together, it was only plastics I changed,

I thought id just give the pull start a pull as you do, and it was solid seized for sure

I checked the pull start to make sure it wasn't that, no not the pull start, I tuck the plug out and yes it was seized, i spayed the smallest amount of wd40 in there and it was ok un seized, we tuck it outside after i made sure it was ok and jeepers it was wheeling for a short time witch i put down to it being tight with it seizing a bit lol! He was very luky i thought there.

Mines sat in my front room with half a tank of fuel in it right now, before I brought it indoors I wiped over the fuel tank and anywere petrol could have got with Apple kitchen spray, I them plugged the exhaust with a bit of rolled up cloth and stuck a bit of insulation tape over the vent hole in the fuel cap, no trace of smell at all

I think keeping the 5th scale in the living room is a good excuse for me to clean it, lol! Or do I just love cleaning, :) I think it's me, i just like cleaning it ;)

and you can't beat the smell of fresh petrol, i can't think of a better air freshener lol! Btbh it never stinks because theres never any in it when its in the living room,

I make sure I use all the petrol up, it would be rude not to wouldnt it? :)
