Has anyone tried a BSD Flux Marauder monster truck yet?

I have always loved the look of the Savage Flux HP, but it seems extremely expensive, so I have held off for ages.

I have just read an excellent review in RRCi of the new BSD Flux Marauder 1/8th scale Monster Truck - its only

I didn't see the review online - I got the mag - Feb 13.

But these quotes in the mag caught my eye.....

"Compared to BSD vehicles of a few years ago the build quality is though the roof good."

"If you want something that's big, fun and pretty much unbreakable (I'm not saying you won't  break it, but if you do I would like to know how you did it!) then this is the bashing vehicle for you"

Reads well, but then BSD advertise in there like all of them, so who knows?

Maybe they will send me one, and I will do an independent test for them and post it up here, but I'm not holding my breath!

Are they linked to hpi? The bsd racing logo looks like the hpi style and calling it flux is usually hpi. The front bumper looks kinda like a summit and the front skid plate too. The tires have a little resemblance to the traxxas talons.

Whenever is see BSD's on ebay i believe they have just used the flux name so unsuspecting buyers buy it without realising it's not a hpi, maybe it's just the suspicious side of ne,

I don't know much about it other than reading the description but as mentioned above the bsd racing logo looks a lot like hpi.

Personally I would avoid, as stretch said it looks to me like they are trying to get sales from people that mistake them for hpi.

If they were confident in their own truck why would the emulate hpi's logo and name?

Hi. I've just ordered one. It should be here tomorrow. I've got a day off work on Friday so will let you know how it goes. Like rdarsa, I read the review in RRCi and thought it looks great.

It's got a Hobbywing SC8 esc and runs 4s (2x 2s lipos included).

Really looking forward to playing with it. Never had a monster truck. I've only been into the hobby for a year but find it a great way to unwind

Good luck!

Hope it holds together and takes a good beating!

I will reserve my judgement until I read more, but the Arrma Kraton does look rather tasty, thanks capri-boy!

Cheers,

The Marauder arrived yesterday and I've run it twice today. I've never used a Savage and don't have much to compare it with but I have to say I'm very happy with it. It's big, very solidly built and fast! Ballooning tyres and big jumps! Great fun! It doesn't wheelie a great deal as the power is well distributed across all four wheels but I like that. It handles really well and seems to be a great all round basher.

The only slight drawback is the size of the battery trays. The provided batteries give about twenty minutes of run time. I bought a couple of Floureon 5200mah 2s lipos and whilst they fit into the trays there is no way to accommodate the wires. Without a slight mod that is! I think a couple of holes drilled into the trays should solve the problem. I'll get onto that tonight.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with it. It's faster than my old Slash 4x4 vxl, handles very well and has lots of torque.

Been running the Marauder for a while now, in woods, on the beach, car parks etc.

Really enjoying this truck. It handles very well, has plenty of power and is a solid piece of kit. I had a slight issue with the chassis missing a couple of screws but the service I received from century uk was outstanding.

Very happy overall. I highly recommend the Marauder.

I tried to upload some video footage but couldn't work out how to do it. Will try again at some point.

All good fun!

A bit more info,

Have crashed the truck multiple times, cartwheeled it etc. and not a single broken part.

No heat issues whatsoever. After 30 mins of running the motor is barely warm. It has a hobbywing sc8 esc and motor and runs quietly and smoothly.

Unlike my slash 4x4vxl (now sold) I've had no issues with dirt in the drive train despite running on dry, dusty areas, gritty, stony car parks and the beach.

The rear of the shell split quite early on as it rubs against the shocks when they compress but I've cut a section out and have had no further tears or anything. I think it looks better too.

Brill.  Some pics of her, vids maybe too would be great.  I know nothings broken but have you looked at parts supply?  One thing the off brands aren't always best at is keeping parts around, especially after the models been out awhile.

BLBB is a BSD product. I was sent it in its Short Course guise to review for RRCi at the end of 2013. I rated it quite highly although it was lacking in a few areas. I've since replaced the bushes with ballraces, done the Badger conversion, chucked a brushless combo in and ditched the rubbish "Beadlock Style" wheels. Replaced the shocks, the chassis and the ball diff......................................................

I'm not sure where I'm going with this but now I've got the diff sorted I'm happy with it.

Ok, so I didn't have the diff sorted. But I do now. Slipped the gear diff from the V2 model in. NOW I'm happy with it.

The parts are all available on the Centuryuk website. They look pretty cheap too.

The battery compartments are quite small. It comes with 2x2s 3200mah lipos but I bought a couple of Zippy softcase lipos which fit. They just need the wires to be in the right place.

Centuryuk seem to have a lot of products and look quite established so I feel fairly confident that I'll be able to source parts. As I mentioned, there was an issue with two bolts missing on the chassis and centuryuk couldn't have been more helpful.

The plastics and aluminium chassis are very beefy.

It seems to be a heavily upgraded Redcat Terremoto with beefed up, solid components and I like the hobbywing SC8. It's well regarded and 120amps.

All waterproof too which I put to the test on Sheringham beach!
