Popular Post .AJ.
Finally decided to the jump up to large scale, I've been into RC for over 20 years and was starting to feel complacent with the hobby and needed a challenge, so here she is Over the last few weeks I've collected a few hop ups and a bit of bling Bartolone clutch carrier Bartolone chassis braces TR motor mount DDM front plate DDM fuel cap DGI servo link FID Racing servo horns I've also got a Short stack Uni filter with prefilter and DDM velocity stack on the way There is still a list of parts to work through before she a runner Exhaust, probably a Samba Killer RC Lipo RX pack and larger box lids Outerwears for the pull start and crank I've been offered another engine by a friend, it's a 26cc race ported long block, but as this my first petrol I want use the stock motor as learning process and will upgarde the carb to WT990 in time and possibly get a 27cc head kit Edited August 23, 2015 by .AJ.
Oh How Original
Schweet! I can't really speak from experience of the DBXL, but my 5ive had a 28.5cc CY with the Bartolone pipe and it was night and day difference over stock.
.AJ.
I think any aftermarket exhaust will be better than the crappy stock can and from all the reviews and thread I've been reading the air filter isn't much better, so the idea is to get the engine breathing better from the start
Oh How Original
Not a bad plan of action really. I know the DBXL is a bit lighter than the 5ive but still a heavy 4wd drivetrain.
.AJ.
See how it goes, I've always got the 26cc to try if I want
.AJ.
Ohh and I don't mind upgrading the carb early, because that can always be carried over to new bigger cc motor

Rover Man
Just get the ESP head kit from freeprawn. Just as good as any of the tuned engines. And the Samba is the pipe to go for. Nice smooth power band and not just loads of noise like the others. Also get some normal body clips as the DBXL ones are a pita
.AJ.
Cheers Dave, I'll go look at them head kits and you are right about the stupid body clip......
Rover Man
Nige runs one in his 5ive. Still on the same engine after 3 race seasons. Easily keeps up with my evo stage 2 tuned engine on the straights. I was well impressed by it and not bad money either.

HYPER-BOY
Very nice AJ! - When I had my 5ive I put the BZM Micro on it, im not sure they do one for the DBXL though? - I was amazed at the difference it made, so I reckon the right pipe is key. I'm sure you already know this lol. 5th scales are brilliant, especially if you are going to race them.. Bashing wise they are good too, in the right place, if it's just flat it boring! Look forward to seeing what you do to it! - Deep pockets required lol..

Oh How Original
I'm running the BZM Micro side pipe, granted it's in a Baja, but the power difference between this and other pipes is very good, I also ran it on the stock engine for a brief period and it's got good power gain, if you're not planning on racing and aren't limited by noise restrictions, it's definitely worth looking at if they fit the DBXL. .AJ.
They are rubbish, under sprung and over dampened, but not a problem, my mate Terry just popped round and he is sorting me a set of 5ive shocks to stick on her
