Help me decide my next build.

So I'm at a bit of a cross roads with RC, I took a break and now I want to get back into it, I feel a bit of the buzz is back and I want to sink my teeth into something new.

I'm still not entirely sure what route I want to go down as far as speed goes.

Definitely want something electric, ideally in kit form and I'm not a racer.

For some reason I'm swaying towards the SCX10 G6 kit.

I initially looking at either a TF2 or Gelande 2 but after reading how they actually perform in terms of crawling ability, the SCX10 makes more sense.

I've done the whole scaler D90 thing and I have a Wraith for proper crawling, so I want something in between, that looks nice, without having the looks compromise the performance.

That's top of the list at the moment, having said that, I'd still like some suggestions for things I might have overlooked.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a crawler/scaler, just looking for general electric choices.

I have three main 'needs'... Kit form... Tough... Readily available spares/upgrades.

So, fire away fellow RC nuts! :)

I think both the trucks and tanks would provide a excellent time in regards build but tough there not I'm afraid and be aware on your own either can become boring but a real hoot if your out in a group.

Neither are cheap to be fair but the quality of the said kits are second to none.

Where as you know a scx10 will adapt as far as you want to go and almost bulletproof from the box....

It's a tough choice given what you already own and have owned......

Dont stop yourself get a mercedez actros and a carson goldhofer trailer

I already know which wagon and trailer combo I'll be buying if I go that route chap :P

That was the problem with the SCX10 D90 I built, the whole, on my own, it was a bit boring, because it wasn't really a challenge to use... Again, for proper 'competition' crawling, I have my Wraith.

If I had somewere decent and smooth tarmac, I reckon a wagon and trailer would be winging it's way to me as we speak, but it's like my friend said about his model railway he's building, he's simply building it for the pleasure of it, not really to use.

That also is a valid point, their isn't a lot I haven't already had

Hmmm, The Gmade Sawback is another option of course.

Why not get an scx10 as there is so much that you can do to them and the resell value isn't to bad. Trailer, formula off road, scale and Dakar truck could be an option.

If all that fails then a trophy truck could be fun.

Don't get me wrong the saw back is a decent bit of kit but like your d90 it will be limited to where I can run so my money if going for a scaler would be a scx10 every time.

Limited how chap? I obviously don't want it to be an all out cralwer, but I always thought the Sawback would crawl a bit better than say the TF2 or G2.

I could be wrong of course, it's just the impressions I've assumed from watching Youtube videos.

I've explored the possibilities of a trophy truck... I don't think I'd have the knowledge of diffs and axles to really have a proper go at a reliably strong one to be honest.

Formula off road, I could just stick a BL system in the Wraith lol.

Summits I think are overrated personally. (yes I'm prepared for people to shout at me) while they look good and do crawl well, I find them boring unless brushless, and I don't really need another fast RC.

The Yeti is actually on my 'possibles' list... Which currently sits as follows.

SCX10 G6

RC4WD G2

Gmade Sawback

Yeti

I'd say go for a tank. Can be used off road and look so cool.

Failing that, why don't you look for something cheap and a bit under rated on eBay and turn it into a tyre shredding monster.

Or a hyper 7 and turn it brushless.

How about a hyper gt? 8 cell monster then that can do off road and on road.

Something off hobby king perhaps? Like basher 1/8 or a short course truck.

Me personally, my next build is going to be a carisma gtb and go buggy racing. Completely out my comfort zone

Yeah the sawback is better than the tf2 and g2 but not as good as the scx10, it kinda sits in the middle.....

Out of the four you have listed, the axials win every time. But I have limited knowledge on the yeti and maybe "zombi" would be better to ask.

Now if you wanted a trophy truck then the yeti could be a ideal base to work off, all you would need is a suitable shell maybe?

A tank is a possiblity, but it does sort of fall into the 'build but not use' category, which would seem a shame.

Fast stuff I'm not too interested in really, if I wanted a guaranteed laugh and fast, I crank the Baja up lol, failing that, build another 8ight-Te :P

The whole scouting eBay thing is what I've been doing if I'm honest, looking through thousands of listings

That does sound pretty close to what I'm after.

The only thing stopping me pulling the trigger on the SCX10 though is the fact I've owned one, and I want to really try and get something I've never owned before lol.

Not a particularly easy task to be honest.

You've got cogs turning for a Yeti based trophy.

I wouldn't go for the XL if I went the Yeti route buddy, but thanks for the link :)
