I want a camera for onboard and i just can't bring myself to pay the gopro price ive hoverd so many times only to click back its unreal. Even the used gopros go for good money for the go pro hero 3 prices between 150-220 used. Argos sold them for 220 silver and 280 black last month so i think the ebay prices are way to high but they're selling like amsterdam acee still so ill look to the sjcam im told ther very good for the money and what i want from it. So why not.

The best new price ive found is

I can't comment on Wi-Fi as I don't need all that stuff.

Mine was a genuine one and I liked it, I was having some memory card issues, which I'm unsure if it was the camera or my card (pretty sure it was the card) which I've not yet figured out as I stopped using my RC's.

I like it, I think it gives an excellent view, good on the audio side of things as well.

Mines taken a fair few knocks also, you get both cases too.

Ignore the whole 'must have SJ4000' crap, even some of the 'clones' have SJ4000, just buy from a reputable person.

Theirs plenty of others too on the market, let's not forget, theirs lots of them, the main reason people go for the one that looks like the GoPro is due to easy access to plenty of accessories, in my personal opinion, I don't see a reason to pay all that extra for a GoPro over the SJ4000, apart from brand snobbery.

That's my personal feeling on it from having one up against the other.

Yeah mate ive done a thread. But im hearing all over the place all the genuine cams have SJCAM printed under the lense or the oem name too. So im aiming for that if any to be sure. Ive brought 5 cams so far and threw most away after a month. So this time want to be sure.

Ide rather the gopro hero3 black but i cant bring myself to pay that lol.

The name makes no difference buddy, it could still be one of the 'fake' ones lol.

Honestly, having had them side by side in my own hands, I can't see any reason, again, apart from a bit of brand snobbery coming into play, why you need to spend hundreds and hundreds.

Plus, if you smash the GoPro it's still hundred to replace, were as the SJ4000's themselves are like

why do you want wifi thats gonna work at a distance of like 5m.

and then possible noise and transmission noise will apprear from the radio system

the wifi uses to broadcast.

9-10 times the wifi is NOT secured, ie any old joe can connect and gain a live view.

remember its the internet of everything you joining an adhoc wifi hotspot.

a rubbish sensor means a rubbish picture.

Interpolated is used alot, what this means is a 640x320 image/video is re-sized to a larger format

say 720p, but its not its just resized inside the camera with software and bad at that.

if you take an interpolated image and shrink it the quality rises, but the image is small.

MP: megapixel , dont mean a thing and i mean it to. you have no need for a 32mp camera, there is NO WAY you will want to print that image off at 7 meter x 10 meter

and still have good resolution..... resolution comes from the pixels per inch, more pixels means the more the camera has in resolution.

5mp means the camera sensor has roughly 5 million pixels over its entire surface, a 12mp yup 12 million yadda yadda. but they mean nothing

unless you capturing still images.

Software is usually cheap firmware installed, ITS THE FIRMWARE that controls the camera. and most of the time stuff gets LOCKED OUT.

cameras either are expensive because they have good software and sensors , or they have more features, things like manual exposure time

manual or auto white balance. but most of this stuff is just sold to you as AUTO enabled.

when looking at cameras, HD means bigger files and means less recording time, your going to work that video system hard running it 24/7

that 5 min hd video eats up 8gb of memory space, so your forced into buying ever larger storage, and there is where another downfall awaits.

most camera will only allow upto 32gb cards and nothing higher, videos are not continuous more so numbered files a 30m video can comprise of

upto 6 smaller videos because the way the camera records to the card.

CLONES:

if it makes money its gonna get cloned simple as, iphone yeah cloned, android yeah to cloned, cars bikes

etc etc you name it its cloned or fake. made with lower grade parts most of the time in electronics seconds or parts that failed tests.

sold on cheap as test units but then used in products. US military was found to have fake chips in some of its hardware.

fake capacitors/regulators/wire etc etc all make money and all purchased by some poor soul being told its real.

fakes are that good they can be hard to tell from an original, or you find the chip inside has been sanded down

its a trick used to remove the id data on the chip, it looks like a yadda , works like a yadda, but its not made by them

but by some dirty old garage owner in a backroom shed/shanty. or the id leads back to a thrown out faulty batch of dungpo capacitors

then they have to explain to angry folks how that happened to get into devices when they were thrown out.

if you make 50,000 capacitors and each one was deemed faulty thats a large loss, so you flog them on cheap to cut the loss down

no questions asked they get shifted on, you say sand off the id's and your loss is cut.

if you want quality with a place to go back to, you get the expensive named brand.

if you a risk taker you maybe say stuff it and go for that hooky item instead

I just thought the wifi ones allow an phone to be used with it. Control the record/stop and see how the picture looks. I was under the impression it somehow links byt mayb thats just the gopro with backpack or whats it called.

I dont have a clue lol i just want a decent cam that has good picture , sound , slow mo and easy to shoot with.

I wanted gopro just can't bring myself to click buy as oho said. Not to mention go pro wasnt exactly a brand to start with the guy wired $5,000 to a shen zen factory to remold some cases to fit one of ther shen zen cameras to work with the gopro wrist band lol. I think he went to a camera show to cam hunt so go pro was started on china crap as some would put it.

I saw the owner on youtube its a great story. But made me look at the sj more seriously it could be the same camera with different software and case. Who knows.

Anyway if anyones selling pm me.
