A few beginner questions - HPI Trophy Truggy Flux - Lipos

Hi All,

I'm thinking of purchasing a HPI trophy truggy flux. I see that HPI recommend using 2x 2s lipos, I've had a quick flick through the manual and see they recommend a minimum of 4000mah 25c and from what I've read on the forum this will give 100A. I will just be using this for bashing and am looking for some advice on the best way to spend my money for the maximum run time. How long could I expect to to get running 2 2s lipos with the above spec? Alternatively if I wanted to stretch out my run time with these batteries for as long as possible is it possible to run the car on just 1 2s lipo, if I were to do this how much performance could I expect to lose and how much run time would I gain.?

As always when on a budget there has to be a trade off and I was hoping that people could advise me what would be a good balance between run time/still being powerful enough to have fun.

thats the bottom line for batteries on the vorza flux.

i use hobyking 2s 5000mah 40-50c theyll set you back around 30 for the pair and will also handle much more current draw should your esc need it.

now if your esc neeeds the current draw which isnt theyre what do you think happens ? puff lol

JB, the ESC doesn't draw the current, the motor does. The ESC is (in simple terms) a valve allowing the current to flow.

If the motor draws more current than the lipos can supply, they will swell.

The flux is 4s minimum, Mr crisps, so you cannot run it on a lesser cell count :)

I run my trophy buggy flux on x2 overlander ultrapsort 5000mah 45c's and I usually get about half hours good bashing....I usually break something before my batterys die :-\

If a battery fails, do I have to buy another matching pair or just the one? Can I mix and match batterys as long as they're matched mah and c rating?

Cheers noj, it's an older pack but it still balances to 4.20 per cell easily enough. I thought I'd read somewere that you can mix makes as long as the ratings match, but better safe than sorry

I wouldn't mix makes, receipe for disaster as what a manufacturer claims as a c rating may not actually equate in reality. By staying same brand and type, any difference is minimised, ergo trouble free running, well, as far as lipos are concerned ;)

As a rule, I keep paired packs together and don't run them individually if at all possible...of course this equates to lots of lipos!
