b3nchy Posted December 20, 2014 Share Posted December 20, 2014 hi guys, im looking to build a scale crawler. something that looks as real as possible but im struggling to decide which model to begin with. ive looked at a few on the modelsport website and have basically narrowed it down to 2 different chassis. firstly the axial scx10 seems to be pretty common however I have also found one I REALLY like the look of. the GMade sawback just looks more realistic and sexy obviously I don't know much about weither. does anyone have any experience with either?? future upgrades and replacement parts is a must!! cheers Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Posted December 21, 2014 Share Posted December 21, 2014 Personally the scx10 is popular for a reason, it is STILL the best scale crawler money can buy, parts are everywhere for them too, only real limitations are your wallet. For the right money I would have one...... But there is issues out the box with the ascender, just read the ascender thread..... Whereas if you were to buy the equivalent scx10 you would get further without a breakage. Plus the spares/hop-ups for the scx10 are amazing. From rc4wd Lot of money for something that is not as capable as a scx10 from the box and has been known to have its own problems with build quality and bearings collapsing, so not really suited to a starter. Cant help but love the sawback haha. Its such a cool looking propper scale chassis... Looks ok but how many real 4x4s do you know have a bright chrome chassis? If it was black it would have been much better or even red oxide colour. My money is still firmly on the scx10. As for which one, do you have all the electrics to put in one? Not worried about a rtr as im in no rush to run it. (Have other cars for now) rtr would just be more expencive as ill still upgrade it all again thinking the scx10 is winning atm then. Gaz! Posted December 21, 2014 Share Posted December 21, 2014 That's easy, modelsport, they price match uk shops and the customer service is second to none. Go for the kit then mate, you will need a 10kg+ servo! motor of anything between 27t and 55t depending on how much wheel speed or torque your looking for and a esc that is preferably waterproof. I am still on the old style battery's but I will be chnaging to lipos hence why I had a esc upgrade. As for servo I couldn't help you there as I am after a good waterproof one myself. b3nchy Posted December 26, 2014 Author Share Posted December 26, 2014 Servo im not to worried about being wp as theyre easy to make pretty water tight...my lb one has had silicon under back plate to seal electronics and extra grease behind front plate on gears makes them pretty water resistant.
