New pilot looking to take off

  • 4 weeks later...

want to fly and first ever airplane, BUT you DO NOT want to spend hours on a flight sim.

now not as if im condoning the not learning part but you can get into the air fairly cheap and have

not ever had a lesson or a simulator run.

now these aircraft are simple. the work on a long glider like wing fixed at a certain angle

the faster the aircraft travels the more lift and the higher it goes. so 3/4 throttle and your climbing high

shut down to half throttle and the speed versus lift balances out and you neither gain or loose high.

no throttle the aircraft starts to glide like a glider, it slowly decends over time.

Goolge the Term " FIREBIRD XL "

they are a very simple aircraft, cheap to and Very easy to fly

throttle = up and down. more throttle the higher you go, less throttle the lower you come.

left and right banking turn  ( rudder ) its what we call a two channel aircraft. but they can be flown by a total novice.

YOU must NOT try to fly it from the ground, you will need to throw the aircraft a couple times, and it can be awkward so a friend

to run along and just steady the aircraft will be very helpful. when in the air you must NOT hold the steering like a car. the more you hold in left turn

the more tendancy for the bird to start a spiral dive, so go easy on the turning.

learn to bump and go , come in to land, touch down give more throttle and take back off, learn to do this and you can start to take off from the ground.

always FLY INTO THE WIND WHEN LANDING !!!! and i mean always, you need that wind to be rushing over the wing to make you float , so point the nose into the wind

back off the throttle and add steering when needed, dont shut down throttle just back it off to say 15%.

use the above method with these types of 2 channel aircraft and you will be flying in around 10 mins. the rest is learning

and finding a 3-4 channel model to fix your addiction of flight

E-flite apprentice 15E google that.

I had never flown a plane before, no simulator experiance exept for on my mobile phone and i flew and landed it all on my own the very first time, rcpitstop has them in at 235 all in inc spektrum radio gear, flight times are 20mins plus and its by far imo the best trainer plane available.

Its so easy to fly in beginer mode it litraly flys and lands itself but also has 2 other modes as you get better.

I bought one of these second hand and i am going to have a fly on saturday morning while no-one is around to see my awful skills.

Its an E-flite apprentice 15E (without the safe-tech)

My question is how do you select beginner mode? I didnt get any instructions with it or have you just dialed down the Dual Rates?
