Miles Posted December 19, 2014 Share Posted December 19, 2014 Hi all, after owning an ansmaan virus 2.0, I now want to go electric, can't be bothered to carry fuel, glow plug etc etc. Budget is around 200 mark, looking at possibly tt01?? Pretty good reliability and strength, waterproof electrics, good fun being 2WD, can be made to go pretty fast too. On road, I've no idea! There is a owners thread somewhere. Edit: LiPo is no more dangerous than any other type of battery if used with a bit of knowledge and common sense. Again there is a thread/guide for LiPo's. Nitroholic Posted December 19, 2014 Share Posted December 19, 2014 Lipos are dangerous if abused. they can catch fire if not properly charged, or if damaged. If handled correctly, monitored while charging, and disposed of should they show obvious signs of distress....they are perfectly safe. the much safer NiMh option only explodes....which is much nicer You will see loads of YouTube vids of LiPo fires etc. but in most cases, the battery was either deliberately mistreated, or had suffered damage when the car it was in crashed and the battery got hit or came loose. It is vital, however, to never leave LiPos unattended when charging. If they have suffered damage, or have failed internally through age or overload, then it is during charging that you will find out. They don;t just explode ( like a NiMh or NiCd ) they will swell up first...so if you see that happening, you can switch off the charger and deal with the problem.
