So having bought a 2nd hand brand new in box MBX6r and then buying an Alpha Dragon A830 .21 and pipe combo, I had one car without an engine.........

I sent a txt to one my trusted guys asking if there are any engines going... To cut a long story short, he sourced me this beauty! - I did only want a cheap engine.......

What an engine, fired it up and it purrrrrrs and rev's fast!

Can't wait to get this down the track when the rest of the bits for the buggy turn up.

The Alpha is now relegated to the Truggy..

Nice one Bunnie lol

Here's a pic of the engine in the buggy now that I sprayed it up.. Can't wait to see what this engine is all about..  Just need to decide what pipe, told the 086 is best for top end but may go for a compromise of low end to middle with decent top.  That's an Alpha 2090 sitting in there at the moment.

Yeah was pre-ran in by Murnan after tuning at the factory then ran once in a buggy - I still have to run a few tanks through it to get it broke in so all good :)

Better than "all good" I would say......someone else has been through the pain of starting the run in and they (Murnan/NR) will have done it properly....and you got an engine that is at the top of the tree for around half price.....

If you do not play the lottery then maybe you should think about it...luck is definitely on your side. :)

I know some guys that have run top of the line (best of the best) engines for years...and the word I keep hearing to describe this engine is 'Transcending".

Short version is this is supposed to be the baddest boy to come along in the past 5-7 years. Congrats and can't wait for your feedback on it!

As for pipe....I'd go by what Nova recommends or a variant thereof. I'll ask my guys what they see out there as they are plugged in to what's winning (here in the states at least). I know all the ones running modded Virtus love the 2058 (which is my all-time favorite pipe as well).

I am not meaning to sound condescending but I have never really heard anyone describe any engine in this manner...

The advantage with the Vitus is that it employs a different rotational balance....we can find main stream crank balance weights in the crank...but the Virtus is a little different in that the crank window is offset...there is one person (at least) that would say this is nothing new...and they were playing around with this kind of idea many years ago...(Neal would know him too)....

Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to post up how I find it.  Can't wait.

Today I received the servo's so set it all up and had some daylight left to test the buggy up and down the road.. Started it up and let it warm, then decided to have a blast.

Wasn't expecting what happened lol, this thing HAULS.. instant pick up and amazing revs... All running rich as well..

I think with a race tune, proper venturi and stinger set up this will be unreal... Why I love nitro! :) :)

Excellent....bah to the venturi...who cares about economy and low speed response...if in doubt go flat out. :)

Have fun with that little beauty.

No....but you do in many of your posts. I've read it in the majority of your posts and realize that's just you...so I take no offense. I imagine there are others on here who feel the same way. Who knows?

I stand by my comments. I know heavy hitters in this hobby who state this engine is unlike anything they've seen. Forget all the fancy science and crap....when they tell me it kicks ass: I believe them.

Hyper-Boy: Congrats once again on your engine. From everything I've heard about it that is a monstrous engine. Don't worry about what others say - go out and get your some. ;-)

You are right...and I know...sometimes I rewrite a post many times before hitting "post" but it still turns out sounding the same.  :banghead:

Took it down the track today for a go... Using soft AKA's, this is down Frankley - Astro and was wet so it was slippy.. Engine has plenty of power, goes like a train!

It's running quite rich at both bottom and top end so out and out top speed isn't what it could be..

First ever time on a track and it's hard! lol..

The engine though, didn't skip a beat, idling perfect etc.  Running a 14t clutch bell and Mugen stock spur.

Engine wasn't getting that hot due to the tune, started leaning it slightly and getting a much snappier response, still plenty of smoke and still rich...  It got to the point where I couldn't control the wheelspin, needed different tyres ideally..

Fully race tuned this thing will be unreal..

Also, running it with the Novarossi 2096 and has loads of low and middle punch.  Can't wait to go again.

Good stuff. :)

You are definitely taking a tough route with that engine for your first time at a track.....often (really, always :) ) it will be easier to learn it going slower. ...easy to change throttle curves and stuff on controllers....but hey if you crack it using that engine flat out... :)

I did go very slow for quite a while! - only gunned it down the straights.. I turned the rates down on the steering and the throttle for a bit..

Once I got used to it I sped up a bit and managed a few non-stop laps... That's when I did a couple of tuning bits.

I got about 6 - 8 tanks today so next will be up and down my road tuning it better... may change the clutch bell first though.
